allow multiple playlists
I listen to different types of podcasts depending on what I am doing. I'd like to be able to separate them so I don't have to keep messing with the order of the list.
Podcast Addict v3.42 has just been released.
This new version finally adds support to multiple playlists.
In order to use this new feature, you can go into the Playlists screen and select the new ‘Custom’ tab.
Then you can select the category of your choice and listen to it.
Those default categories are provided by the podcast owner in their RSS feeds, but you can press on the toolbar ‘Category’ button and add/delete/customize them.
That way you can create playlists like News, Commute, Workout, Audiobooks, SFW, …
Each playlist can have its own sorting mode.
Please let me know what you think about this new feature
Thanks
=========
New version will add multiple playlist support.
In order to do so you will need to enable Continuous playback mode in the app Settings/Playlist screen
Then the playlist screen will have a 3rd tab which displays the podcasts categories.
You can then select the category of your choice to start listening to it.
You can edit/delete/add categories
The app will remember the sorting by category

2020 and the creator still refuses to.implement multiple playlists. Bizarre.

So still no improvement of really implementing multiple playlist feature so far...?

I have certain podcasts that I've purchased from the podcasters website and downloaded onto my phone. When I play them, they open and play in the podcast addict app, which is great. But they dont appear on my home podcast screen. If I want to listen, I have to go to my local files and select from there.
I'd love to be able to create a custom playlist of imported local files. Is this possible?

I'm unsure what this offers. It would really be great if the custom playlist could be saved off as a playlist that can be returned to if another podcast is played. Now I have to find the episode I was on and play if again to reset up the custom playlist again. I have to do this regularly. Is there a trick I am missing?

How did I get rid of my custom playlists? Is there way to delete the different categories? I don't want any custom playlists, but they keep adding daily and I have to delete them manually. Is there an easier way?

Back to PA since my IPod broke. I just learned of this feature and it's great!

One way I work around this (for podcasts I come to in my beautiful, prioritized, play-from-the-top main playlist and want to save to listen with my partner - occasional episodes of about a dozen of the 100 or so I subscribe): share each file to specially created gdrive folder; create one podcast of that folder

It's not the way I'd have done it, but I added an additional category of "work" to two of my podcasts, and now I can listen to just them on the custom list whilst sat at my desk.

It should be as simple as I add a select podcast to a selected playlist. The category thing is not of any help to me.

Is supporting multiple manual playlists still out of the scope? I've been looking for a better choice of podcast player for weeks after discovering the last one I used merely operates on their own "content network," that is, it ignores RSS feeds completely as soon as it finds the same podcast program exists in their _network_, even the RSS feeds have more episodes. The reason why I tolerated it for two years? Multiple playlists lol.
Guess I'll still purchase the donate, because I'm convinced by the quality of the app, and it's not at all ambitiously bloated like other apps, and only requires few permissions, and it's a one-time purchase with a low price instead of a subscription.
That said, please still consider supporting multiple playlists :) There are many episodes that I listen over and over again because they are heartfelt and bring back all the good memories, though I guess this somehow contradicts with what podcasts/RSS are usually used for.

Can we have the option to add multiple distinct playlists? There is significant difference of one playlist segmented and 2 or more distinct playlists. Thank you. I also donated to the software, great work!

I think there's no need to be constantly insulting to the app developer. For whatever reason he decided not to implemment (really customizable) playlists, so we must take his decision with respect.
Almost we all have begged him to implement that functionality a long time ago, and we know the result.
So, it is just as simple as as changing to other app. There are many out there charged with a lot of wonderful functions (even fully customizable multiple playlists!)
Friends, please calm down and start looking for alternatives.

If you offer an advanced setting to change the default playlist that would be a workaround for the rest of us.
I need three playlists where I can drag up and down manually.
Idea: create a hidden setting to select the default playlist out of manually created ones.
The category workaround DOES NOT DO THE JOB.
The rest of your app is great.

The app has and will only have a single global playlist that can be controlled manually.
Other lists are created on the fly by the app based on the selected category or on displayed screen. -

It is a good step, but not really the feature needed. What we need is the ability of selecting particular episodes of whatever channel, being able to put them into any Playlist we choose (obviously with desired order)
Podcas Addict is an app with many, MANY good features, BUT I cannot use it because of lack of custom playlists. If you take a look at Podcast Republic you'll see how powerful custom playslists can be, and bring something similar to P.A. (that's not copying, that's evoluting)

Like most people commenting here I also would to be able to create multiple custom playlists to listen to in different situations. Just being able to sort into multiple categories is really useful for that. Call8ng that "multiple playlists" is a little misleading.

As many other users, I would love to have multiple custom playlists (not automatized in any way) that I can create to fulfilled my wishes... I do not know. Just a custom list, one for each situation .... :)

Bummer. I didn't read the comments thoroughly to realize the "multiple playlist function" wasn't really a playlist. I want to be able to download episodes and assign them to a different playlist, one for me and one for the things I listen to with my kids. The categories button doesn't do this as it has all the episodes from the categorized podcasts...I could just go to the podcast to get that. I did just get the $3 app after using the free one for years, so I am a bit bummed about the lack of this feature, but overall, I really like this app.

I'm in the same boat as @Jeenu. When I think of multiple playlists 'categories' is not it. To me multiple playlists is one where I can add specific episodes to specific playlists manually.
Your recent addition of the automatic playlists has been a good step. In the future might you consider upgrading the playlist functions?Thank you much @XavierGuillemane; your work is appreciated!
