Add support for chapter marks
For long audio files support for chapter marks would be great. See here: http://auphonic.com/blog/2013/07/03/chapter-marks-and-enhanced-podcasts/
The app now supports chapters for M4A, MP3 and Vorbis files
It can also extract those informations from the RSS feeds.
Chapter support includes:
– timestamp
– name
– custom artwork
– custom urls

Chapter info without the ability to skip them with the forward and back buttons are useless. Having to go into the chapter list to choose them is stupid...

Hello!
I'm subscribed to the NerdCast Podcast. But not seeing the chapters.

@John Holzer the app already supported chapters for mp3 files before this new version. The latest version added support for m4a files. Please send me an email in case of an issue (Settings/Feedback)
Thanks -

Pleasepleaseplease support mp4. We need it for the sake of itunes and don't want to split our podcast on two different feeds (mp4 and mp3)

Is there a possibility for there to also be custom artwork for podcasts that would normally have artwork in Overcast? I don't know what that uses and I don't use overcast but I've heard from other people that they get artwork on certain podcasts and I don't. They're using overcast.

m4a chapters would be awesome, thanks.

@Simon
did you get an error message when refreshing the episode ?
If not it should work the exact same way as reseting the podcast and updating it again -
Simon Schilling commented
@Xavier: "long press on the EPISODE and select 'refresh from RSS feed'" is what I also did – without success. Now I reloaded all my podcasts, so that I cannot try again. And I have no idea where the chapter marks were located. But I guess those were podlove simple chapters...

@Simon
Thanks for the feedback. The only way to get the chapter information for past episode is to start playing them (if the chapter information are located in the mp3 file) or to long press on the EPISODE and select 'refresh from RSS feed' if the chapter information are located in the feed.
I will see later how I can improve the chapter list display once the app is able to extract custom artwork/description -

The implementation works great for me. Two points I want to add as feedback:
* The chapters list could also be located in a fourth slider sheet in the player window (playlist | cover | description | chapters).
* I haven't be able to activate the feature for episodes which were loaded before the feature was available. Even after refreshing the RSS for the podcast, the chapters are not available. When I delete the whole podcast (unsubscribe) and re-add it, the chapter list shows up. -
@Ross Mclardy
Unfortunately the m4a implementation won't be easy... -
Ross Mclardy commented
Great, yeah I understand that about m4a. Hopefully that will be easy to implement soon. Thanks
-
@Ross Mclardy yes the current chapter name is displayed on the player screen and updated in realtime as playback progress.
But if the chapter information isn't provided in the RSS feed, the current beta won't be able to extract it from the m4a file for now -
Ross Mclardy commented
Will the current chapter be shown in the player window? http://podcast.hospitalrecords.com/feed has tracknames embedded as chapters would be useful to see current named chapter (this is m4a tho)

Hi Xavier.
I would like to have a list of chapter from wich start the play and/or seek the playback. I would also like to define custom chapters to mark parts of an episode.
I don't actually have a podcast/episode with chapters.
Thank for your great work!

For me: PodLove specs, skip, choose, description, everything else

Xavier,
As many of the other comments to this thread, skip forward/back would be at the top of my last, followed by chapter select.I'm not sure about media formats, as I honestly haven't paid close enough attention (PA has always "just worked" for everything I listen to)
