Play 'First in playlist', not 'Next in playlist'
Imagine that you have your playlist sorted by date, and you want to always play the most recent playlist. In this case, then when the current podcast has finished, it should not play the next in the playlist, but instead play the one at the top of the playlist.
There should be an option to specify this.
This is available in the latest v2.19 version. Enable this setting in Settings/Playlist

That doesn't solve the issue: if you listen through all your most 'important' podcasts then it moves on to less important podcasts. However if a new episode of an important podcast is release you have to manually reset the playlist to start playing from the top again.
That is of course assuming that you know a new version is released, you may not know and in that case may be missing out on something that you've explicitly flagged as 'important'

Well, thanks to Podcast Addict's intents and the ability to send those intents from the Tasker app, I have a workaround for this feature now. I'm using the 'start playing previous track' intent multiple times before sending the 'start playing playlist' intent from Tasker.

I also am using the priority this way. I have four different priority levels. For me, the higher priority podcasts are also the podcasts with more frequent updates.
In the end, I'm regularly interrupting the playlist to restart it to the top.
It defeats the purpose of having the automatic priority sorting...

but that route will always put you at the end of the playlist, so you will need to manually select the next highest priority podcasts.
Adding the option of first in playlist would be great add, for example I have my priority set up as 3 for weekly news podcasts, 2 for talk show podcasts and 1 for other. so once I have listened to my priority 3 podcasts my priority 2s will start playing, but if a new priority 3 downloads if I don't check the playlist I will continue to listen to priority 2s, then 1s, what first in playlist will do is automatic play my new priority 3s when a priority 2ends, so I don't have to continually check the playlist -

with the new (amazing) priority system this is massively needed as currently you will listen to the lower priority unless you go into the playlist and make start from the top every time you get a new high priority podcast

The title should be:
Optionally Play 'First in playlist', not 'Next in playlist'
