sound amplification for quiet podcasts
New buttom for it
Edit: The beta has been published. Please let me know how it works for you. Thanks
A new beta will be available before the end of the week with a ‘volume boost’ feature.
Please subscribe to the beta channel (http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/253911-how-to-join-the-beta-program) in order to test it and to give me some feedback
Thanks
Edit:
Available in the latest v2.31.1

I'm just scaling the samples so yes it might create some distortions.
This isn't the ideal solution but it might help for now -

Thanks! I tried the beta - it did help quite a lot on an otherwise barely listenable podcast

. On the other hand, when listening to a podcast with very good sound quality

I had quite annoying distortions, so I had to switch it off. What exactly are you doing? Perhaps you can check this - since you can look ahead as needed, it should be possible to do dynamic compression without any clipping. -

Or how about adding an internal volume control slider that allows easy setting of the volume for those quieter podcasts

I use the equalizer for this purpose, raising all the frequencies (in fact, I wanted equalizer support just to use it as a volume booster). It works wonders for me.

As well as the dynamic range compression suggestion (http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/forums/211997-general/suggestions/5947590-use-dynamic-compression-to-support-listening-in-lo) there is also http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/forums/211997-general/suggestions/4209961-add-an-option-to-normalize-the-audio-volume. Implementing both of these would give consistent and loud podcasts for use in noisy environments.

There is already a suggestion that does something like that: http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/forums/211997-general/suggestions/5947590-use-dynamic-compression-to-support-listening-in-lo
