  4. Add the ability to preview episodes before subscribing

    When looking for a podcast on a particular topic it is hard to know what it will be like without seeing the list of episodes. To view the episodes, however, the user has to subscribe to the podcast. The user then has to switch to their list of subscribed podcasts and find the relevant podcast before viewing the episodes. This is a lot of extra steps when instead the episodes could be previewed before subscribing which would help the user decide if they actually want to subscribe

    This feature has just been released in v3.16
    From the search results press on the podcast (or long press), the select ‘Episodes’, you will then have the list of the podcast episodes, from which you can stream/download without having to subscribe first

    BTW: I forgot to add this feature in the Discover podcasts screen, but it will be done later this week

  5. Add keyboard support for fast forward / fast backward

    I use a bluetooth keyboard and would like to press a button to skip forward and backward (a few seconds) as you do on a touch screen with >> and <<.
    Nowadays Podcastaddict only supports media keys and only their direct actions, as media play/pause, media next, media previous, volume up/down. (Meaning you can't even map fastforward to media_next button)

    I even can write my own application to pass actions to PodcastAddict on key press, or one can use Tasker, but one needs to know what to pass (the Intent or http command) to your application for this action (fast…

  6. Listening statistics

    A statistics section that tracks how many podcasts you've listened to, total listening time etc. I know it doesn't add anything functional, but it would be a lot of fun to have.

    Next version will add a Statistics screen in the app settings, that will show the total listening time, time saved with the skip silence feature. A first beta should be available in a couple of days.
    I will improve this screen and add more statistics in the following builds

  7. Limit thumbnail cache and use hashes to reduce redundancy

    I just connected my tab to my Arch PC to delete some episodes (my digitizer is broken). I got curious and dug around and discovered that PA is using 857MB for thumbnails.

    This is clearly a huge waste of space and could be easily solved with the aforementioned hashing.

  8. Add to "reading in progress episodes" how much of it you already listened to.

    I'm suffering from the mediatek device bug as this user: https://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/forums/211997-general/suggestions/8769643-playback-error
    As the developer stated he cannot do anything about because it's the fault of the internal player of the device itself.

    At the moment I'm handling this as follows: Instead of just pressing "play" to resume listening I look at the podcast addict player page and memorize how much of the podcast I have already listended to. Then, after the player jumps to anywhere when pressing "play" I can go to the time manually where I actually stopped listening.

    Unfortunately you can only see how much you have already…

    v3.18 will allow you to see the remaining time in the episode screen (if you toggled the duration display to remaining time)
    The “Reading in progress” screen sill show you the remaining time as well or the current playback position (I still have to decide)

  9. Podcasts in trash last longer than 7 days

    Please give us an unlimited option for the trash instead of a total of just seven days because for me I use that to let me know which podcasts are still downloaded and which ones I still want to manually delete and not have it do it automatically for me because I may not have gotten to that podcast before it automatically deletes please give us an unlimited option so we can keep it in trash for as long as we want and they won't do it unless I manually do it

  10. Add a sleep timer that is reset by movement.

    A feature I would definitely get a lot of use out of would be a motion sensitive sleep timer with a 1minute or 30second chime. An example of the use would be to set a sleep timer for 10 minutes. When only one minute is left a light chime sounds. Because of the motion sensitivity I can simply tap my phone to reset the timer. An example of an app that does this is smart audiobook player.

  11. sleep timer button on live streams

    waiting early 3.18 apk with this feature pls. not on player screen. or when touched radio icon, need jump to player as podcasts then we will see timer there. maybe live radio icons should be bar as podcasts. so we can pause/play from right part and jump player with touching left part of icon as usual.

  12. playlist select all or multiple select with further options

    Any chance of getting an option to select multiple podcasts in the playlist then allow remove from playlist, download selected podcasts, move marked up or down. think this would be helpful!!!

    Podcast Addict v3.21 will allow you to select multiple episodes in the playlist and to select one of the following action:
    – remove from playlist
    – delete
    – move to top
    – move to bottom
    – reset playback position

    A new beta including this feature will be published tomorrow.
    Please join the beta tester group in order to test this

    As explained in the changelog a few weeks ago, the app now uses a new playback mode by default called ‘Continuous playback’. If you want to manage the playlist manually you need to select ‘Global playlist’ in the app Settings/Playlist/Playlist mode.

  18. Add to Playlist position / Add before current episode

    When clicking "Play" on the Episode page PA puts the episode in the playlist depending on the settings of "Add to Playlist position" and starts playing the episode.

    Let's take a playlist with abCde where C ist the currently played episode. If I press "Play" on a new episode (called N below), the playlist looks like this afterwards.

    Add at the bottom: abcdeN
    Add at the top: Nabcde
    Add after current episode: abcNde

    So, PA will never play the rest of episode C directly when N has finished. And that's what I want:

    Add before current episode: abNcde

    Shouldn't be…

  19. Please consider adding a "Merge Categories" feature.

    For example, there are two existing categories named "News & Politics" and "News and Politics." Because each has many items, and re-categorizing them individually would be tedious, a way to merge them would be helpful.

    One option might be to simply rename one to the other, whereby the user would get a dialog saying something like, "Category Exists. Do you want to merge them?" Or the user could multi-select, via checkbox or long press, then select "Merge" from a menu.

  20. Ability to browse & download individual episodes without subscribing to a whole podcast.

    I often would like to listen to individual episodes of a podcast rather than subscribe to the whole podcast. Would make it easier to cherry pick individual episodes on a given topic or guest.
