  2. Storage saver: convert podcasts to memory efficient format

    Lots of podcasts use ridiculous, high-bitrate, stereo codecs for what is essentially just voice content. My podcasts eat up many gigs of my precious phone storage now.

    An option to convert these files to a mono, 24kps opus file (whether locally, during download, through a web service, whatever) could cut down on disk space usage by 25-80%, depending on the podcast while having negligible effects on quality. Of course this would need to be a per-podcast option, music podcasts would need higher bit rates.

    This would be a killer feature for me. I tested it myself and reduced disk usage…

    Regarding your question, there’s nothing to do. The app doesn’t manage your connection. The connection is handled by the device.
    If you try to stream/download over 3G/4G on a fresh install the app will let you know that by default those actions are only allowed over WiFi and that you can change this in Settings/Network. Make sure to disable ‘streaming over Wifi only’ if you want to stream over 3G/4G

  5. multiple playlist

    It would be nice to handle multiple play lists. Each podcast could be assigned to a specific playlist so that when new episodes are downloaded they a queued to their respective list (unread list being the default assigned list).

    In addition it would be nice for playlists to also have priority so that podcasts belonging to a higher priority list are downloaded first and also played before those of lower priority.

  6. Few Tweaks.

    Hi! Firstly, thanks for all your work; great app. One or two tweaks for me... :)

    1. By default, don't start playing the next episode. At least make it an option. I use it to get to sleep, but occasionally forget to check the 'stop at end of episode' button and find it's been playing all night.

    2. I feel like there's one 'press' too many. Instead of: Podcast List > Episode List > Individual Episode > Play....... maybe you could have a 'play' button on the list of episodes which would start playing it immediately?

    Please create one feature request per request so users can vote for it.

    Regarding your requests:
    1- the app won’t start playing another episode after the current one ends unless you’re using the playlist or continuous playback feature.
    Disable them if you want to play one episode at a time.

    2- you can change the quick action button to be a ‘play button’ instead of a ‘download button’ in Settings/Display/Episodes/Quick actions

    3-You can enable automatic update in Settings/Update. You can disable the notifications of your choice in Settings/Notifications

  8. Auto start when plugging the earphones

    Hi. On my phone I use the the n7player app. When I put my earphones in my phone, the music starts automatically. Can you do the same with your app? So I don't have to take my phone out off my pocket. Just plug the earphones and keep listening to my podcast. Thank you.

  9. Allow a scan of media already downloaded.

    If I restore my phone the app does not look for pod casts already downloaded. i have to delete the downloaded ones then download them again.

    The app does this automatically. It restart the download process for every downloaded episodes and if the file is found locally and matches the remote file size it’s marked as downloaded automatically. The latest version v3.16.2 improves this process speed a lot.
    Please contact me if you want this APK (for now the rollout process is at 5%)

  10. done app does not work on BlackBerry

    I have been using podcasts addict on my BlackBerry Z10 and it works great. I paid for the donate app and tried to install it but it fails to install. I won't ask for a refund because I appreciate your work. I just wish I could get rid of the adds.

    I’m sorry but the app is only developed for Android. Yes BB devices can support some apps, but they are limited by their Android runtime feature support. It looks like they don’t support apps which don’t show any UI. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do.
    Where did you purchase the app ? Amazon store doesn’t allow access to the paid app for BB devices.

  11. Podcast Image Feed

    This is probably a very esoteric request, so I have low expectations for you to change something, but maybe I'll get lucky. Even if you don't change, I'd be curious about your expert opinion on the request.

    The primary feed for The Let's Talk Bitcoin Network podcast is on Feedburner. For some reason, Feedburner points to a Creative Commons image, rather than the Logo for the podcast. However, the Feedburner feed still points to the correct logo in a few places (iTunes:Image and Media:Thumbnail), and it seems to be enough for most apps. But Podcast Addict only sees the CC…

    I just subscribed to the podcast and the app shows exactly the artwork you’re referring to.
    If you subscribed before doing some modification in the feed, the app might not get the update. In that case you can long press on the podcast, select ‘podcast description’ and then press the update button to refresh the episode description, artwork, …
    It should fix this issue.

    In case of an issue why are you posting everywhere (1 star review on the play store, the uservoice, …) instead of contacting me ?
    The Donate app is a way for the user to support the app development and yes it also removes the ad banner from the app.
    Did you follow the app instruction ?
    Please make sure the Donate app appears as installed in the Play Store, then make sure to restart Podcast Addict. If for whatever reason you still see the ad banner, please try rebooting the device.

  15. Have playlist time worked out using the listen speed

    Currently when listening to my podcasts at 2.5 speed still tell me normal speed time for playlist time
    Possibly use currently running podcast with by option
    Possible problem could be using different speeds for different podcasts

  16. Fix audio playback when resuming from widget

    Often times when I resuming playback from the widget the podcast will reset my progress. I've noticed most frequently when an audio ad (the automatic pop-up ones) overrides it. Thats it otherwise great app!

    Please don’t use this page to report an issue as it’s dedicated to new feature request. Either send me an email or use the dedicated bug report form (Settings/Feedback)
    Regarding the issue, the app always resumes to the last known position. If the device built-in player which is in charge of the playback doesn’t fully support the file encoding, changing playback position might fail. The only workaround is to play this podcast with a 3rd party player not relying on the device player, like VLC or MX Player
