When adding local audiobooks, treat each subfolder as a different book (podcast)
Allow adding a top level folder and treat each subfolder as a different AudioBook. Perhaps treat spillover files not in a subfolder as a 'misc' podcast

It's Wednesday March 24, 2021, and yes this feature is still in the app. Here's what you have to do. Tap the plus button on the upper right to add a new podcast. And then tap the virtual folder / audiobook button. Then locate the folder containing the subfolders.
Add that folder. The app will ask you whether you want to create a unique virtual podcast containing all of the audio files in one podcast or whether you want to treat each subfolder as its own audiobook. You can either tap ”single” or ”multiple”. Tap 'multiple”.
