Automatically mark episodes older than ... as played
I'm subscribed to serveral "News" Podcasts, some of them updating their feed every hour.
I'm not interested in hourly news from 12 hours ago and they clutter the "unplayed episodes" list, a per-podcast setting to automatically either "Mark all but the latest episode as played" or "Mark episodes older than n hours/days/month as played" would be very convenient.

Automatic cleanup is just for downloaded episodes. What I'm wanting is for episodes older than a user selected amount of time (hours, days, weeks) to be marked as played whether I've listened to them or not.
Or the ability to have it just display the newest episode, or five most recent unplayed episodes (whatever number the user wants to see)

I would also like this feature... I have 3 different podcasts that I only listen to when they put out something I'm particularly interested in. When I find one, I manually download that episode and listen to it.
I would like older episodes that haven't been downloaded and played to be marked played at a user specified time.
I have seen the Automatic Clean-up/Keep at most settings that Dan S suggested but they don't seem to do anything for "unplayed" and never downloaded episodes. It's not a huge deal to manually clear things up with an occasional "mark all played" command, but I would be nice for it to be automagic.

You can already do this per podcast in Custom Settings: Automatic Cleanup: (Override global Automatic Cleanup settings for this podcast: Yes): Keep at most/Delete older episodes.
