add support for opus audio-files
It would be great if the app supports opus-files.
This new codec is "made for podcasts", due to small file-size and high audio quality.
Support for opus would save download volume.

This new codec needs to be supported by android. If not, it won’t be supported by the app

So here's what I see - if I rename the .opus files to .mp3 they play fine in podcast addict.
This is on a 2yo Samsung J7 running Android 8.1

In the mean time folks can use vlc or foobar2000 to listen to opus. The latter is better than VLC for audio only collections of files though not as nice for organization or much useful at all for podcast management. It's workable if you're willing to manually set and manage playlists and manually delete files when you're done with them. It's unfortunate that PA can't have opus support built-in since other apps have and it sounds great for speech all the way down to 6kb/s.

@Jason Lisonbee VLC uses its own player engine. Podcast Addict relies on the device player, so if your device supports this encoding, then you should be able to listen to those podcasts with Podcast addict

I listen to opus using vlc on my Android 4.4.4 KitKat based ~$70 smart phone.

@Jannik
Playback is handled by the device built-in player, not by the app.
I looks like your android update removed this compatibility or broke it...
Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about this on the app side -

Recently updated to Android 4.4.2. Pretty sure opus files worked before, now they don't. Doesn't seem to make sense. Any ideas?

@Jörn Playback is handled by the device built-in player, not by the app, so if Android 5 supports the file encoding, then you should be able to play it with Podcast Addict. Feel free to send me the RSS feed url so I can do some tests.
Thanks

It is supported since android 5 but my opus rss still don't work in PA. Is it possible to integrate it now? This would be a really great features!
