Add proritzed playlists
I often subscribe to more podcasts than I have time to listen to, though the time I have varies. Also, some podcasts are more time-sensitive than others.
My suggestion is to allow giving different podcasts different priorities so that higher priority podcasts will play first and only when all higher priority podcasts have been played would podcast addict start playing lower priority podcasts. Within each priority band podcasts would still play in release order.

You can already set priority to the podcasts you subscribed to. Then you can sort the playlist by priority and if you enabled play from the top, the app will always play podcasts with the higher priority first
