Shutdown background
I Have all automatic update features turned off but app is always running in the background using battery.

Once you’re donae listening to an episode you can press on the player notification ‘x’ button to close the player. After that there’s no more code running. Feel free to contact me if you have any question (Settings/Feedback)

If the app service is running in the background it's not using any battery unless it's updating feeds or downloading a podcast. If you are using the app widget it's normal to have a background service running.
