Option to remove or not show notification when the download is pending because there is not a wifi connection.
When a new episode is found using mobile data and downloads are only allowed when on wifi, the Download notification stays and is not able to be removed. I would be nice to have an option swipe away or an option to not show notification. Additional part that would be nice is to show the number of pending podcast in the app.

I can't swipe the message. I don't see the option anymore to say I don't wanna see this notification. I paused the download, can't swipe. Tried to cancel the download, but that doesn't work either.

It's really annoying to have to turn off my wifi to get rid of these notifications. Why can't I just get rid of them without having to do that?

This is normal. The download notification can only be swiped when downloads are paused.
If you want you can remove that notification in the app Settings/Notifications screen -

I cannot swipe a pending download, unless I pause it first. Is this a bug or is there a setting?

The Pause status means that you manually paused your downloads and that nothing will be downloaded until you manually resume the downloads.
Episodes are automatically enqueued to the download manager list based on your settings, but they will only download based on your settings also.
If there's no valid connection the app just waits and doesn't attempt to download -

I have this issue. It is cumbersome to have to go to the download manager, and cancel the download because the newly detected episode obtained the "in progress" status irrespective of the available networks. This means that the swipe never actually applies. The download should not get to the "in progress" status unless a validly defined network is detected upfront. This "in progress" status should also automatically pause (and disappear from notifications) if this network disappears in the course of download, imho. Thanks for reacting.

The number of pending downloads is already displayed in the notification when there's more than a single episode waiting to be downloaded

I got caught waiting for the end of the download when it did not even start due to a bad/not well configured WIFI connection. I could wait for ever if I did not check the status of the connection.
Is it possible to distinguish a slow but download from a failed download due to the loss/insufficient WIFI connection?
If so, it would be better to have an icon "failed" instead of "pending".
