Using cloud folder for virtual podcasts
Hi,
I love podcast addict, but there's some audio files I want to listen like a podcast. Good for me, there's an option named "Virtual podcast" where I can use any file from a local folder like a podcast.
But, it would be great if I can use a folder from the cloud (like Dropbox or Google Drive...) to store my files at first.
Thank you.

I haven't found a music player as good as Podcast Addict for lectures and interviews. The tap to skip ahead or skip back is essential so I can write down a phone number, email address, book title, website, or if I just stopped paying attention for a few seconds and need to go back a little. It's even good for music files in case I want to listen to a solo again or learn an intro on my instument. Also the background play with the screen off is great, especially because it includes both audio and video. But Virtual Podcasts is really limiting because I have to have room on my phone and I have to add each album (folder) individually, and there's no streaming.

This would be great for audiobooks, especially if your phone is low on space. Instead of needing to have the full book on your phone, you could have it in Dropbox and PodcastAddict could just download the next episode (or next few episodes) and delete each one from your phone after you listen to it.

Workaround: Right now I use an app namend OneSync to synchronize a local folder on my phone with myOneDrive to get this effect.

This is what I want, I am using a completely different player just for this use case.

Same here. This is exactly what I've been trying to do.

Workeround - open Disk app in Android > find mp3 file > file menu > open on application > Podcast addict

Hey,
I too would love this to be an option. I don't have much room on my phone but I have many lectures I need to listen to which lie on my drive. If you could allow creating a virtual podcast from cloud folders it would be so amazing, because right now I need to find another app for that which is a shame... -

Being able to listen to the various audiobooks i have in my Dropbox would be an incredible feature that would sell me for this app forever. I'm not joking, it would be an incredible quality leap. I cannot possibly download them all on my phone!

Some version of this would be great functionality. In my view, it would be best if it treated the google drive folder as if it were an RSS feed, downloading files per normal download rules. This would simplify playlists for virtual podcasts, it could use less device storage, and it could potentially allow virtual podcasts to be synced between devices, if syncing functionality is ever added.

Ce serait pour moi la meilleur des évolutions pour PodcastAddict !

It would be a great functionality. This is it, Xavier: when you go to the "audiobook" option to choose a local folder to be used as a podcast, there could appear too cloud storage services, so you can choose a remote folder to be listened to saving space in the card.
Something like this when you browse to add a folder:

I agree with Moleculor.
In answer to your question Xavier, in a perfect world, I would be able to play from a cloud folder, but if it had to be a synchronized local folder, I would be happy with that as well.
Nice product, by the way!

The way I'd like to see this happen is for Podcast Addict to just simply interface with Google Drive as if it were extra storage. Seemlessly. All I have to do is select the 'Google Drive' option instead of a folder on my phone.
I wouldn't even care if the file would have to be first downloaded to my phone and then uploaded to Drive. I'm running out of space on my phone, and Podcast Addict is the biggest culprit. (Well, that, and how far behind I am on listening to podcasts that are pulled offline after one week.)

This would be a great option if it were available.
What I would find ideal is being able to make a Dropbox or Google Drive (a cloud folder) folder a virtual podcast. Have it set up just like a virtual podcast folder on your device, but instead of it being a folder on your device, it'd be a cloud storage folder. -

I would love Podcast Addict to synchronize using Google Drive between devices that can run Podcast Addict. I would like to be able to listen on my Android phone and then switch to an Android tablet and be able to carry on where I left off on a downloaded podcast. Can the storage folder be changed to a Google Drive folder?

I would love to be about to save to and play from Google Drive.

I would love this option as well.
I use Podcast Addict mainly to listen to audio plays/radio drama. I have a fair amount of premium content that I own and I use Dropbox to store some of it for downloading to listen to on the go.
If i could "subscribe" to my Dropbox folder with Podcast Addict that would be ideal. Then whenever I add anything to Dropbox, I could download it straight to Podcast Addict and put it on my playlist. Then when I'm done listening to it, Podcast Addict would remove it for me.
Is this something that is possible now or maybe in a future update?

Oups, sorry for the delay.
I think it's pretty much what I mean. Simply "subscribe" to a Dropbox/Drive/whatever folder and automatically get the new files each time I add something on them, and to be able to mark them as read like a (virtual) podcast.

Do you mean a synchronized local folder or content dropbox / drive cloud ?
