Add option to keep it from running continuously when not in use
This app runs continuously no matter how many times a user "force stops" it in the Apps menu in Settings. For those of us who do not need/want automatic updates/notifications, that is unacceptable.
Once you’re done listening to an episode you can press on the player notification ‘x’ button to close the player. After that there’s no more code running
Feel free to contact me if you have any question (Settings/Feedback)
Thanks

@Xavier I regularly see the message podcast is running in the background, when I have not been using it for a long time. This notification is particularly annoying because I can't clear it. Issue is not the memory. Hopefully you can add a force close button or something similar. This is the only app on my Samsung phone that does this. Unfortunate though because the app is really good!

@Daniel Bemis The app needs the background service in order to work properly. The service will clear its caches as soon as the device needs more resources, then it won't use more than a couple MB of RAM. The app doesn't use any CPU/battery while running in the background so it won't slow down the device

Than you can not install as many Apps as you want. So why do you not have it as s option to run in background. I just shut it down and it works fine when i start it

I close it in the background all the time than start it when i needit. No problems with it starting afterwards. It uses memory that slows down a phones OS if you have a lot of apps running in the background. Think about it if you download 20 apps and they run in background

@Anonymous
No, having data into the RAM doesn't take more battery. If the device is ON the RAM is powered even if it doesn't contain any data. If the device needs to free some resources for another app Podcast Addict service will clear it's cache and therefore use almost no RAM -

Like spotify, when you close the app, not just click the X and swipe to the side in your task manager. Spotify doesn't run in the background.
As I understand it, using ram requires power, only a little bit, but still.

You can close the player simply by pressing the notification 'X' button.
Once closed the app won't listen to remote controls anymore.
Having a button to 'quit' the app is against Android best pratice -

Well, I also ask for a "quit" button since I know and use this app.
My concern is that the "play" button of the headphone is not well managed when more than one audio app is active at the same time.
Example of highly successful app that has this feature (MX player for example) seems to not convince Xavier ;-) -
The app requires this background service in order to run properly. It doesn't use any copy/battery. I don't understand what the issue is
