Have podcasts automatically play the next episodes in a series
Edit: delivered in v3.9
==========
Next version of the app will include a new playlist mode called ‘Automatic podcast playlist’ (at least for now).
This mode will disable the current playlist and all the ‘add to playlist’ / ‘remove from playlist’ menus and buttons.
When selected, this mode will work like this:
Start playing an episode. The app will automatically build a playlist with all the unread episodes of the current podcast. If you press the play button on an episode from another podcast, the app will clear the current playlist and build a new one for the new podcast.
Please join the beta group to test this new feature as soon as it’s available (http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/253911-how-to-join-the-beta-program). Feel free to let me know what you think about it. Every feedback is welcome.
Thanks
Edit: a new beta has just been published with this new feature. It should soon be live. Please test it and let me know if you have any issue or some feedback.
Thanks

why was the add to playlist feature removed ? it enabled the building of custom playlists from different podcasts... now I will have to look for a player that cares about its users not its devs...
adios podcast addict

This will be added in a future version ;) -

Looking forward to this function. Question: how about multiple playlists?
I'd set them up something like:
Music
Computer tech news
Work stuff
etc...
Then I'd group my interests within the playlists.Thanks, Scott

I love the app. Not having the option to play the next episode (without making a playlist) is my only complaint. Great App!

using the playlist method, how can I sort by podcast name But, in reverse chronological order? When I'm trying to catch up on recent news, I prefer to listen to the most recent first followed by last week, than the week before, etc.
Is there a way to create custom playlists? I'd be perfectly happy separating my podcasts into individual playlists and then sorting by date in reverse.

People that are complaining that it's ridiculous this feature is missing maybe take a step back and look at how much functionality is available for the price of having to view a few ads / spend a couple of pounds. Xavier is unlikely to ever get rich of this, it's obviously a labour of love.
By all means, request new features but respect the devs - some people have been just plain rude in this thread. -
@Nigel Coldwell
Where am I blaming anyone ???
I'm just explaining how the app is working for now.
Until I implement multiple playlists, you can still play multiple episodes in a row and I just explained how.
And BTW many users wont to only play one episode at a time, that's why I added recently a way to disable the playlist so the playback stops just at the end of the current episode.
I can assure you that everyone has its own way of using the app, and think that everyone else is waiting for the same feature, but t's rarely true ;) -

I've seen this before. It's a classic case of users not using the app exactly how the devs intended and the devs blaming the users.
It's an obviously functional omission. It's ridiculous that it doesn't work the way users expect. When I'm playing a podcast and it finishes do you really think I want silence?

@fing
You can use the built-in playlist to add and listen to your episodes. With the 'automatic playlist' feature you won't have to handle anything as new episodes (or downloaded ones) are automatically added to your playlist. Feel free to contact me if you have any question (podcastaddict@gmail.com)

Is this still missing? I just downloaded this. I am used to BeyondPod and TuneIn Radio and this is the first thing I was looking for. I can't be creating playlists every-time I want to listen to my latest episodes of my favorite podcasts!

I agree. We shouldn't have to set up a playlist to make use of what should be default functionality for a podcast.

This is an excellent suggestion to improve a very good podcaster. I need this as well. I listen to podcasts in the sequence issued. That is the way I used the IOS player. It would be very useful to be able to start listening to a particular podcast and have the player automatically move to the next one in the series when the last one is complete. I never use the playlist. Ordering the play list and fooling around with it is painful. I do not want to be fiddling with my player while I am driving.

The "enable automatic playlist" is not one of the menu options. Even so, this is a pain in the hiney. It should just autoplay when you want to listen in downloaded sequence without having to move them to a playlist. Even iOS podcast player does this. I've always found playlists to be a bother and adds unnecessary steps, and this is no exception.

I definitely agree with tjis. X a view's answer was, "jump through this hoop, then jump through this hoop, but I still won't tell you HOW to do it, just figure it out." Basic functionality that make miss my iPhone Podcast app

I need this too. I listen to totally different kinds of podcasts, so a general playlist would not be useful, when everything mixes up. I want to be able to listen to downloaded episodes of one podcast in a row. Could be an on-off-feature, so the playback could also end at the end of an episode if I want to, but as some of my pocasts are 3 h long and some 90 s neither the globel playlist nor manual start of each episode is a useful solution

I was surprised to find this feature was missing! It's my only complaint about the app. Please add this functionality!!
I'd like the keep the playlist for listening to newly released episodes, but be able to listen to old podcast episodes in order without adding to the playlist.

You don't have to add any episode manually to the playlist.
You can go in Settings/Playlist and enable automatic playlist.
The app will then add new episodes automatically to the playlist.
If you sort the playlist by episodes you just have to press a podcast specific episode, then the app will keep playing this podcast episodes until no more is available then it will play the next podcast available in the playlist if any -

I completely agree with you. It's annoying that if I want to listen to a podcast continuously I have to add each one to a playlist. If I'm streaming a podcast, I want it to automatically go on to the next episode once one is over. It's tedious adding episodes to the playlist. I want ease and simplicity.

Please add an option to play a specific podcast category. For example, if you want to listen to all episodes of NPR's "Serial" before resuming the regular playlis

You can enable automatic playlist for downloaded episodes. Then you can have tge pkaylist sorted by podcast that way you can press on the first episode of this podcast and the app will keep play until the end is reached
