Allow storage of downloaded episodes to an external SD card
Or, if this is not possible, have an easy way to delete downloaded episodes en masse.
You can store the episodes on the SD card. You have to change the default storage location in Settings/Download/Storage location. Make sure to follow the instructions especially if you’re on KitKat. You can also delete episodes automatically in Settings/Automatic cleanup or ‘en masse’ by selecting them

I'm having issues in using the SD card for storage on a Chromebook (the app works perfectly on a phone). I posted a very thorough explanation on /r/podcastaddict ( https://www.reddit.com/r/PodcastAddict/comments/12evo7z/downloading_errors_to_sd_card_on_chromebook/ ). I have since confirmed that at least two other podcatchers (Pocket Casts and Beyond Pod) don't have any issues writing to the same SD Card on the same device. And I can clear the error when it happens with a reboot. But it's a drag.

I had a similar issue. I just had to force stop the app and re-open it.

@Tom
The app can only write on the SD card if its authorized to do so.
First thing to check is that you gave permission to the app to access your storage in Settings/Applications/Podcast Addict/Permissions.
If it's already done, then it means that the SD card is mounted in read only mode.
Please try to reboot the device. If that doesn't help, the SD card is corrupted and needs to be analyzed/repaired using a computer -

I'm having this same problem. I recently changed to a new phone. I am running android 8.0. For the first two weeks I had no problem downloading to the SD Card. Now it won't let me download to the SD card, though other apps are able to read and write from the SD card. Podcast Addict can read from the SD Card, it just won't allow me to download new epsisodes. It gives me the error that the folder is unauthorized, but it won't let me change the folder. I love the app, but if I can't get new episodes I'll need to try a new one. Thank you!!

It looks like your SD card isn't mounted in write mode anymore.
Rebooting the device might help -

Hi Xavier
my email is Stephanie_wilton@btinternet.com
I'm using the correct path for SD card storage and it worked fine for about 15 episodes. Now it's telling me I'm not authorized to write to the card. -

This means that your SD card isn't mounted in write mode or that the app doesn't have permission to access the storage (Settings/Applications/Podcast Addict/Permissions)
If after checking the permissions a reboot doesn't help, please analyze/repair the SD card using a computer -

I have this problem also, has worked flawless until now.
When i try to download a podcast episode, i get the error: it looks like the selected storage location might be in an unauthorized sdcard folder. -

Please send me an email in case of an issue so I can help.
This error means that the app cannot access the selected path anymore.
If rebooting the device doesn't help then analyze/repair the SD card using a computer as it might be corrupted

When I went to download podcasts today I got the message "podcasts are trying to be downloaded to an unauthorized SD Card location" or something like that. I have not changed any settings since yesterday, when podcasts were downloaded successfully. The folder path shown under the download settings is /storage/7440-2129/android/data/com.bambuna.podcastaddict/files but there doesn't seem to be any way for me to change this. I switched back to internal memory, and now do not seem to be able to switch back to the SD card (if I select the SD Card radio button and click "OK" nothing happens. Sometimes a message flashes that I think says "copying" but it disappears instantly.

You can store downloaded episodes on the SD card no matter which version of Android you're using.

Hi,
I'm currently switching devices but still want to use the same SD card. Currently the new device is Android 5.1 (Lollipop?) which should be newer than Kitkat.
But when I tried reusing the SD card on the new device, it keeps getting error
"Since Android KitKat, android apps can only write into their own dedicated folder on the SD card"So currently, my podcast is stuck in the internal memory
How do I solve this ?
-
@Eduard
This is normal. Android shows the total space used by the app which means space on both the internal app folder AND the SD card app folder.
You can use a file explorer to check the ap folder on the internal memory and it will be empty.

I have the storage location set to store the episodes on the SD card. These make 1.6 GB. However, checking the internal storage information I just found the same 1.6 Gb are registered there.
Is this some kind of data duplication? What happens if I just clear the internal storage data under settings/apps/podcastaddict/storage: any risk I'm going to lose the information which seems to be also in the sd card? Are both related, somehow? thanks -
@David
The device is providing those path and the 2nd one looks indeed as a SD card path.
Selecting the SD card will then move your downloaded files to the SD card.

Under the settings/storage folder, there are only two pathways options. I believe both of them are on the internal storage despite one of them labeled "Removable SD Card". I cannot move the app to SD card under the application manager. So how do I move only the downloaded episodes to SD card if I cannot select a new pathway?

@Sebastien BECQUET
You don't have to select any folder.
Go into Settings/Download/Storage folder and select SD card.
The app will automatically select the SD card path as returned by Android -

According to :
https://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/293421-how-to-store-episodes-on-the-sd-card
Since Android KitKat, android apps can only write into their own dedicated folder on the SD card. So you will have to select the following folder:
<SDCard_path>/Android/data/com.bambuna.podcastaddictYou "just" have to use this folder ! It took me a long time to find it !
