Automatic cleanup: "keep unread episodes" option
I don't really think why someone would risk to inadvertently delete an unread episode that might be backlogged by some reason. Just as it is a "keep favorite episodes", I want a "keep unread episodes". Moreover, I think it should be enabled by default. It is easy to mark an episode as read, or older ones in batch with the included option or manually delete it if you really don't want to listen to it . But the risk of inadvertently deleting useful content should be avoided at all costs (for the developer to have peace of mind and less name-calling :)

I agree with the previous anonymous commenter, I also binge listen to one podcast at a time. Just recently I was caught out trying to download a podcast's back catalogue of over 100 episodes, only to realise part way through that automatic cleanup was deleting the older episodes as newer ones were being downloaded. It's not ideal to have to make sure to turn off automatic cleanup for podcasts I subscribe to with substantial back catalogues (which happens a fair bit) before starting to download, then remember to turn it back on once I catch up. And in the meantime if I'm not careful I get caught out with automatic cleanup on any other podcasts I'm allowing to build up unplayed episodes.

This would be a really useful feature for me! I tend to binge listen to one podcast at a time, and in the meantime I build up several unplayed episodes of other podcasts. I don't need to keep many episodes I've already listened to, but I like to keep the most recent few per podcast. At the moment I have to turn off automatic cleanup for the podcasts I'm storing up for later, then remember to turn it back on once I'm more or less caught up.

I agree with this. my problem is that my automatic cleanup does not work if that episode is paused. I have listened to it already and it is marked as 'read', so it should honour the automatic cleanup settings if the automatic cleanup was set so that it can keep 'unread' episodes with an option, then the read episodes can be deleted no matter what. that would satisfy both issues.

@emlax3
Please don’t use this page to report an issue. It’s dedicated to new feature requests. Use the Contact support button or the dedicated bug report form instead (Settings/Feedback/Report a bug)Regarding the issue, the app can only delete episodes based on the Automatic cleanup settings. If they are disabled then episodes ca only be deleted manually.
BTW the deletion is only for the downloaded file. The episode article cannot be deleted. Maybe you marked it as read and then pressed the toolbar 'eye' button to hide read content. In that case please press on this button again to show them back. -

I think an automatic cleanup feature should work by default in this way: those old enough episodes, that are read and not favorited, got cleaned up automatically.
but here in podcast addict, you CAN'T EVEN DO THAT.

By the way, I also think that "keep favorite episodes" should be enabled by default. Always err on the side of caution
