Cut silences
After using for a while Overcast app for iPhone I appreciate the feature of automatic silences removal, to speed up the playback without spending up the speech. Basically you should define a maximum "pause" (=significantly quieter passage) between words and cut any additional pause you encounter. This can save up to 15% of the playback time. Of course, since you want to check volume level and not audio samples , you may find more efficient to work on the FFT coefficients in the compressed audio.
9 votesEdit: The beta has been published. Please let me know how it works for you. Thanks
A new beta will be available before the end of the week with a ‘silence skip’ feature.
This feature will remain in beta for some time, because I guess it will need some tweaking, so please, try the beat and let me know if you’re having sound quality issue. Depending on the podcast I saved from 1.5% up to 20%
Please subscribe to the beta channel (http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/253911-how-to-join-the-beta-program) in order to test it and to give me some feedback
Thanks
Edit:
Available in the latest v2.31.1 -

Support scheme relative URIs
Some podcasts (http://feeds.ancientfaith.com/GoForthAFR for example) are including schema relative URIs. See https://url.spec.whatwg.org/#concept-scheme-relative-url for an explanation of these.
Podcast Addict doesn't appear to understand these.
1 voteFeedburner just switched all its feeds to this a couple hours ago. A new version of the app is rolling out, but it will require to reset the feeds, or long press on the episodes and select ‘refresh from the RSS feed’’

Allow each podcast a custom default sort
In custom settings should be an option for the default sort for each podcasts. Some are easiest by name (books), while date by oldest first (catch up on podcasts), date by newest first (normal podcasts). There should also be a default sort choice for any without a custom setting.
4 votesIn the next version I will add a setting in Settings/Display/Custom sort per podcast
By default every podcast will display its episodes using the same order as the app last episodes/downloaded episodes/all episodes/…
If you enable this new setting, you will be able to customize the sorting for each podcastsEdit: This feature is available in the new v2.23.2 version which is currently rolling out.
The full rollout should be complete in a day or 2 -
Sorting
Would be very usefull to be able to sort on Priority then by date. This would ensure that the newest of your favorites is allways on top

Move Chromecast button global
You should have Chromecast button visible everywhere, so we could connect to it before playing the video, and properly disconnect from it after playing the videos. (like Youtube, Daliymotion, ... )
More details :
When you reach the end of the playlist, you can no more open the player view, and thus you can't disconnect from Chromecast anymore.
Also, we must first start playing a video to connect to the Chromecast : this leads to first seconds of video being played on the device, that's annoying on short videos.19 votesThis shouThis has been delivered a few months ago

Player's "Settings" sub-menu accessible from the Player's dropdown menu
Currently (v2.22.2), the Player's "Settings" sub-menu is only accessible from PA's main settings menu. It would be convenient\intuitive to have the Player's settings sub-menu also accessible from the Player's dropdown menu.
This could also apply to other "settings" sub-menus; Downloads, Playlist.

Fix lock screen widget to work with Android Lollipop
The widget does not work when 'Hide sensitive notification content' is set in Lollipop's 'Sound & notification' options.
Google's 'Play Music' widget does work when this option is set.
1 votePlease don’t use this page to report an issue. It’s dedicated to new feature request. Use the page Contact Support button to open a ticket.
Regarding the issue I don’t see this setting. I only see “Show/Hide notifications”. Please give more detail about the issue.

Please fix: crash at startup - KitKat 4.4.4 ART
After the most recent update (2.17.2) I am unable to even start the app. Since the option to uninstall the update is not available, I am podcast-less until there's a fix

Xavier GuillemaneSorry about this issue. The 2.17.2 version file has been corrupted during the upload and the app couldn’t be started anymore.
Last version on the play store fixes this.
Sorry about that mess…
Feel free to update your play store review if you put a bad rating because if this ;)Thanks

update the pending downloads page to allow for override of only wifi requirement for individual episode.
I like the global setting to only download over wifi. However, sometimes I am away from wifi and want to download something to listen to. I might have 5 podcasts pending download. I'd like to be able to go into the pending downloads page, long press on the episode, and tell it to download even though I'm not on wifi.
24 votesUntil I implement a ‘real’ download manager, the next version will allow you to long press on an episode in the ‘Download manager screen’ and select ‘Force download’. This will allow to download THIS episode while bypassing the app network settings. This flag will reset when the app gets killed or the if the device is rebooted. If you don’t enable this in for the first episode in the download queue, then it won’t do anything until the 1st episode is downloaded.
This will be implemented in the next version (v3.3)
Edit: Delivered in v3.3

Choix multiples de podcast avant action
Serait il possible de permettre une multi sélection de podcast pour les actions et éviter ainsi de répéter unitairement l'action à faire ?
Merci
JJ1 voteYou can already do that. Open a screen displaying some episodes, then in the toolbar or toolbar menu press the Action mode button, then you will be able to select episodes and then an action.

Take podcast lengths from real file when possible, not metadata.
Once a file is downloaded, you KNOW how long it is, and longer longer have to use the feed metadata. Lake Woebegone is ALWAYS 15:00 in the feed. Penn's Sunday School is always 00:00. Once the file is on the device, it should be trivial to see how long the file ACTUALLY is for sure.
2 votesThe app is already retrieving the app duration from the RSS feed data and from the files once it has been downloaded

Audio Equalizer (EQ) settings function.
Some podcasters play some songs in their episodes so it would be cool to have an EQ function like the one in "Play Music". Definitely not an ESSENTIAL function but I'm just putting this out there for the distant future.

Add "reset progress" option to long-press menu for items in playlist
I like this from within the individual podcasts view, but I'm dying for it from playlist (where I spend most time and most often want a quick way to reset progress without having to awkwardly slide the progress slider back).

Download latest episode automatically after subscribing
1st off, my settings are to automatically download new episodes.
I would like it if the app would also automatically download the latest episode of every new podcast I subscribe to. This is not happening, not even after refreshing the podcasts manually.
21 votesA new setting has been added in the last version to choose how many episodes should be automatically downloaded when subscribing to a new podcast (Settings/Download)

Show size of downloaded episodes
In podcast "description" screen, display the sum in Megabytes of downloaded podcast episodes. Also one option to order podcast by size occupied on SD card. I want to know the biggests podcast (sum of all episodes). Thanks.
14 votesThe next version will display the storage space used by the podcast in its description screen. Unfortunately there won’t be any sorting by space used at the podcast level as this would be too slow to update
Those informations are now available in the app
