sort two levels
sometimes I want to enjoy podcasts in order for autoplay and would like to sort by 2 levels such as
'by podcast; date'
for the playlist so that i am not intercollating episodes of totally different podcasts in my downloaded episodes
3 votesYou can already use up to 3 level of sorting for the playback. To do this, open the playlist screen and press on the toolbar sort button. Feel free to contact me if you have any question (Settings/Feedback)

Search Audiobooks by Genre
When I want to discover a new audiobook, scrolling through an endless list isn't particularly helpful. I'd like to view available audiobooks by genre/category.
1 voteI'm sorry but there's no category or standard for audiobooks in RSS feeds so this is not possible

While downloading, the episode appears (in grey) in the playlist so we can place it where we want
I usually download manually episode I want to listen first while I already have many episode in my playlist.
I set the new downloads to be added automatically in the playlist and they appear at the end.But it would be very nice if a "downloading" or a "to be downloaded" episode could appears in the playlist in grey, so we can already place it where we want in the playlist (when I manually download an episode it is because I want to listen it immediately of after an ending one).
Besides, those "ghost" episodes order in the playlist can…
5 votesYou can enable Settings/Download/Play downloading episodes to do this. So if you set the app to automatically add downloaded episodes to the playlist you will see the episode in the playlist as soon as the download starts. Feel free to contact me if I misunderstood what you were asking (Settings/Feedback)

Add search in downloaded episodes for titles as well as episode names
When searching in downloaded episodes, you should also be able to search for the title of the podcast, not just the episode name.
3 votesThe screen already allows you to filter by podcast, so you can search for episodes of a specific podcast by aplying the podcast filter first. Feel free to contact me if you have any question (Settings/Feedback)

Open/Read Spotify podcasts from Podcast Addict
Hi,
First of all great app, thanks for the great work.
I recently discovered that it's possible to show podcasts from Spotify on your app through a RSS feed. But, it's impossible to play them. The idea would be to a a link that allows opening and playing the podcast on Spotify. Then, maybe trhough adding an app on Spotify, reading users spotify feed and see if they finished it so that you can mark it as read on PA.
I've been using your app for years now and I just can't find something better to listen to podcasts. Plus,…3 votesThe app gives you access to every podcast. However if you're refering to Spotify excluive shows, then these are not podcasts anymore and therefore cannot be listened to on podcats apps. Sorry but there's nothing I can do here

Option to NOT remove an episode from Recent episodes after I click on it
In the Recent episodes list, I often click on an episode to see more details to determine if I want to add it to my list. However, once I click back to go back to the Recent episodes, that episode would be gone. It would be great to have an option to change that behavior.
3 votesYou're describing the behavior of the NEW episodes screen. The recent episodes screen doesn't work that way. It shows the list of episodes published in the past 7 days and opening the episode description has no effect on the list content

Flag new features in the app
Please tell users when you add new features. A couple of times a year is fine.
1 voteEvery time a new version is released there’s a changelog displayed that describes the new features. You can also get more details on the app website

Download-all button
Add an option to download all episodes in the Popular Episodes section.
1 voteYou can already do this by using the select mode . This allows you to select multiple episodes (or all) and then apply a bulk action like download. Feel free to send me an email if you have any question (Settings/Feedback)

You can enable ‘playback history’ in Settings/Navigaiton sidebar. Then you can use this new screen to see the last episodes you listened to

Have an option to see full episode description
Currently, it's possible to click on the "more" link at the end of a long episode description to go to the feed/website to read the full description. But for episodes with long descriptions, only the timestamps in the abbreviated description will be useable, or show up in the playback UI in Android Auto.
It would be great if the "more" button revealed the whole text of the description in-app, so all timestamps are accessible.
Also it'd just be generally helpful for ease of use to not be directed to another app to read the whole description.
Thanks!
1 voteThe app shows the ful description provided by the RSS feeds you subscribed to. What you’re describing means that the podcaster is choosing not to provide a full description. There’s nothing I can do on the app side.

Add Advanced search options. Specifically an exact phrase option
I've found search results inconsistent even when sorting according to relevance. Some of the episodes that matched my search exactly were lower down than those results that didn't match exactly
Amazing app!
3 votesThe app relies on the Apple search engine for this. Sorry but there’s nothing I can do to change their episode search engine behavior

Podcast searches should match partial words, for example "freak" should find "freakonomics"
When searching for a podcast to subscribe to, "freak" should find "freakonomics". The first use case is so save time, the second use case is that a title like this (with a made up word) might be hard for some people to spell.
1 voteFreakonomics will match here BUT, it will have a lower scrore than the other podcasts using the word freak, therefore it might be push up so low in the list that it won't be visible. You can switch to the Apple podcast search engine in the app if you prefer a different behavior

virtual audiobook: cover being overwritten
virtual audiobook: cover being overwritten with the folder cover when (marked) finished, so different files in a folder end up with the same cover; option to disable cover change when audiobook finished?
1 voteBy default the app deletes episode custom artwork when the episode is marked as played. You can disable this behavior in Settings/Automatic cleanup

Quick Persistent Chapter mute
When you hold a chapters mute icon it adds or removes it from the filter list for that podcast. A color change to indicate one time vs persistent mute would also be nice.
Thank you for your wonderful work.

Option to hide repeat episodes from view
Adding a filter to hide from view "re-runs" or repeat episodes similar to how you can hide fully listened to podcasts from the home screen. Many podcasts repeat episodes to meet their schedule but if you're a regular listener, or just want an easier way to see the universe of episode without the clutter, it's helpful to weed out the repeats.
1 votePlease do not create dusplaiucated entries

Option to prevent download of repeat episodes if you've selected auto download of episodes
I do not believe there is an option to prevent the download of "re-runs" or repeat episodes when you have auto download selected for a podcast. Many podcasts repeat episodes to meet their schedule. I recognize that the repeated episodes may not match up perfectly with the original but an imperfect filter would be better than none.
1 voteYou can filter episodes based on some keywords in their title. By doing so they won’t be displayed in the app, however without this the app cannot know if an episode has already been published or not

Make it possible to remove the recent episode from every screen
Good god, man. How do I remove the super-annoying, attention stealing, animated, scrolling most recent episode that I am completely done with, from the bottom of every screen in the whole app?!
3 votesAre you referring to the player banner? If so, this shows you the current episode and allows you to control the playback from any screen. Feel free to send me an email if you have a question (Settings/Feedback)

Offer Ad Free Version for Patrons on Patreon
I'm trying to move off of Google products as much as possible, and would love it if Podcast Addict was available ad-free for Patrons on Patreon.
3 votesSorry but this isn’t possible. The Play Store and the Google Play Services are mandatory to handle purchases / licenses.
Sorry about that -
Episode order should follow download order
Some podcasts must be listened to in publication order (E.g. "History of the English Language). Most others, you can hear the latest first. While PA has a feature to download in either order, the sort order for episodes is always the same across podcasts.
This is exacerbated on Android Auto when, using the default sort order, I'm scrolling scrolling scrolling in the freeway trying to get to episode 15 of 150 in the History podcast. (but I don't want to switch the default sort order, which is great for most of my other podcasts).
Simply having display order and download…
3 votesPlayback order is controlled in the playlist screen. You can either order episodes manually or select the order of your choice. This will apply when you listen with your phone or through Android Auto. Feel free to send me an email if you have a question (Settings/Feedback)

create folder for episodes marked as played to unclutter Recent Episodes folder
If I have a couple of dozens of new episodes I may not necessarily want to play all of thenm. As I mark them "played", they still remain in Recent Episodes creating clutter over time. If you move the "Marked as Played" episodes to a dedicated folder, e.g., " Episodes Marked as Played" that'll make Recent Episodes folder more neat focused and friendly.
1 voteYou can press on the toolbar ‘eye’ button to hide played content
