An error occurred while saving the comment @Jose Marques
This feature request has no status. It has never been 'under consideration' ;)Sorry about that, but I don't have time to develop the app for new operating system. Support takes time, bug fixing takes time, implementing important missing features in the app takes time, adapting the app to new Android version & devices (Android wear, auto, tv, cast, home, ...) takes time...
I'm sorry but there won't be any "computer version" of the app any time soon. I might develop a web app in the future but there won't be any windows/mac version of Podcast Addict.
Thanks for your understanding

An error occurred while saving the comment This doesn't use any storage space. This is just a list of episode title extracted from the database. Unless you keep episodes as downloaded, displaying all episode title won't use any space

This is an Android bug, because it only affects a few users and always when starting playing via Bluetooth.
The app doesn't manage the connection and you will never experience this while listening on the device speaker or with a wired headset. Also you can enable the playback speed and you will see that it doesn't work at all like what you're experiencing when this issue occurred. The app playback speed feature doesn't change the voice pitch. Sorry I cannot be more helpful -

I understood your original feature requests. I was answering the latest comment in the Thread. Unfortunately your issue is really specific and unless the podcast owner use the exact same unique ID for episodes across different thread this won't be possible
An error occurred while saving the comment @Anonymous
If you see duplicated entries in a RSS feed it means that the podcast owner doesn't follow RSS specs and is updating existing episodes Unique Ids.
This issue can only be prevented by the podcast owner. He/she need to follow the specs and NEVER update existing episode unique ID -

You can disable the statistics in the app settings if you want to, but statistics won't use much data.
My guess is that you might be facing the infamous Google Play Services data drain issue. Since a couple of weeks, the last version of the Google Play Services seems to use a lot of cpu and data on some devices to display the banner ads. As a workaround you can switch to the interstitials display mode in the app settings. Hopefully this will soon be fixed. An error occurred while saving the comment Those information are available in the Privacy policy available on the Play Store page, on this website and from within the app Settings menu.
On the server side there's a lot of post processing to remove non pertinent information so they cannot be shared.Everytime an episode is downloaded or streamed it increments a counter on the server, which will allow me soon to display new episodes, trending episode, ... and to share those numbers with the podcast owner. This is just incrementing a counter
without sending any personal informationThere's absolutely no data sending and there never will be as explained in the Privacy policy. Those data are just there to add more features in the app in order to improve podcast discovery which isn't so great for now.
If I wanted more money like you suggest the first thing I would do would be to require more permission like access to localization, contact information which would immediately boost the ad revenue by A LOT !
But I will never do that. Why are you saying the data isn't anonymous ?
I can assure you I don't access any personal information (check the permission), so I have nothing personal to share ;)I didn't reject and close your feature request so I'm not saying it won't be done, but for now I'm working on more 'important feature', so I won't consider it before being done with those features which to be honestly will take some time.
If you want to I can build a specific APK with those upload disabled (no new settings, no tuning of any screen), but you will then have to disable Play store update to avoid getting future update of the app for now.
Is so please let me know by email (podcatsaddict@gmail.com)Thanks
Xavier
An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry but those information allows to create the Top podcasts list and recommendation. I will soon be able to add new features like new episodes, trending podcasts/episodes, ... and so on thanks to those anonymous informations.
I can also send statistics like : subscription #, download #, streaming # to podcast owner who ask for these information -

The new position is automatically broadcasted everytime you changed the playback position. This feature request is different.
What you described looks like an issue/bug in which case please send me an email with more detail so I can help (Settings/Feedback)

You can already do that, by selecting a category in the main screen, then select all podcasts and apply an action.

FYI there’s a setting in Settings/Player called Playback “speed factor” which allows to select how much of the current playback speed is applied when you listen through a loud speaker. For example, I set this at 33%.
This means that the podcast set to 2.5x is played at 2.5x only when listening with a headset (wired or BT). Otherwise the app will play at 1.5×. Once you enable this, you won’t have to change the playback speed based on the environment. The app will do it for youAn error occurred while saving the comment If you change the player speed in the app settings, then it's applied to every podcasts.
If you change it on the player screen it applies to the current podcast only (which won't be affected by global setting change anymore after that) -

Next Beta will have a new feature for this
Please contact me for more details on how to get the beta and test this (Settings/Feedback/Send email)
ThanksAn error occurred while saving the comment Please send me an email in case you have any question (Settings/Feedback)
Regarding your question, no it's not possible.
You can only link those files to the app data by restoring a backup.
For now you can add a virtual podcast to listen to those files in the app, but there won't be linked to your subscriptions. -

Just a heads up regarding the latest version of the app. It doesn’t provide cross device syncing yet, but it allows you to sign in to your Google Drive account and have all your data automatically backed up to make sure they are safe at all time. It also makes restoring the data on a new device really easy.
You can go into Settings/Backup to enable this and sign-in
ThanksAn error occurred while saving the comment @Anonymous the app will never be able to sync status with iTunes.
Apple doesn't provide such APIs, so that's not possibleAn error occurred while saving the comment @Matt
Thanks for the information, but unfortunately I cannot ask for this permission as it doesn't make any sense for a podcast app to use the camera.
Also their API isn't complete for now and only basic information can be synced. An error occurred while saving the comment @zed
I tried to contact them to ask some questions but I didn't get any answer.
It looks like it's missing some features, and there's no way to know if their server can handle the charge. Finally I already started working twice on this feature and both times the solution I chose was deprecated... I want to make sure this won't happen againAn error occurred while saving the comment @Max C.
Dropbox has deprecated is Sync API, so this isn't a solution anymoreAn error occurred while saving the comment @Phil
Google Plus is just used for the login mechanism.
The problem with Google native sync mechanism is that it can only be used where there isn't a lot of data to synchronize.
Some users have A LOT of subscriptions (200+). This can mean a number of episodes to synchronize of 50K, 100K or even more.
Because of that those solutions aren't adaptedAn error occurred while saving the comment @Abiel Enrique
There's no beta for this. I had to cancel twice this feature as Google reader service closed, then Dropbox Sync API was deprecated.
For now I'm still looking for a solution...An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry but I don't have any new ETA for now.
I'm still working on Android 6.0 update. Then a couple of weeks after the Android 6.0 release I will have more time to resume my testsAn error occurred while saving the comment I started developing this based on a Dropbox API. The subscriptions syncing was fully developed as well a 50% of the episode status syncing, but Dropbox announced that their were cancelling this feature...
So I have to find another solution. I could handle it on my side by adding more servers, but because I want this available in the free version as well I'm afraid it might cost me a lot to implement this, so I'm still looking for an alternative.
Also the upcoming Android M version will require a lot of work so Podcast Addict can work properly, so for now I don't have an ETA...An error occurred while saving the comment @iWampy
Yes but this is limited to devices with access to the Google Play Services. I'm trying to build a solution which will work on devices without Google Play Services. That way, you will be able to synchronize Kindle devices, BB devices, on Chrome, and Windows 10 ;)An error occurred while saving the comment Bad news... I was implementing this feature with Dropbox Sync API, but Dropbox just announced that these APIs were now deprecated...
I will have to find another solution and re-implement everything :(An error occurred while saving the comment @OV51KGRV this feature will allow synching subscriptions and episode status. It won't store any downloaded episodes
An error occurred while saving the comment First I need to finish the v3.0 which comes with a small UI update and some technical improvements. Those technical upgrades will then allow me to resume working on the cross device syncing. There were some performance issues with my initial tests, and now it should work better
An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry I had to switch to a much urgent issue the past weeks.
With the increasing number of users I'm having some server issues so I need to rewrite all the server code. This will take like a couple more weeks, then I will switch back to the cross device syncingAn error occurred while saving the comment Because I won't be available much in the next weeks I won't publish anything yet.
I will publish the 1st beta in januaryAn error occurred while saving the comment In case of a phone upgrade you can use the app backup/restore feature which will allow you to keep all your subscriptions and episode status
An error occurred while saving the comment Still working on it but I'm having a technical problem to solve first... I think I will have to postpone the beta to January because I won't be available to work on the app the second half of december
An error occurred while saving the comment I'm having performance issue, so I had to switch to another solution.
Still doing some testing to see if I can finalize thisAn error occurred while saving the comment Usually I publish the beta so everyone can retrieve it on the play store (you need to be part of the beta tester group on G+), but in this case it will be limited to a few users first.
I will need users willing to do some testing and to send me some feedback in case they see some speed impact, battery usage issue, bugs, ...I don't know exactly how I will proceed yet but once the beta is ready I will post a comment with all the information
An error occurred while saving the comment I still have a couple releases to deliver will small improvements / new features and bugfix, then I will spend a couple of weeks developing this. Then it will take at least another couple of weeks for intensive beta testing...
I hope to deliver this feature before the end of the yearAn error occurred while saving the comment This feature will be added in 2014. But it requires a lot of work server side and also to find a solution that won't cost to much... So it will take a few month to implement it
An error occurred while saving the comment Do gpodder offer episodes favorites, read status, position synchronization or just subscription sync ?

Edit: Microsoft just confirmed that their Astoria projectr is dead: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/02/25/microsoft-confirms-android-to-windows-app-tool-project-astoria-is-dead/
Unless they come back with an alternate solution there shouldn’t be a Windows port any time soon.
Sorry about that

It doesn't look like it. What they call a universal app is an app that will run on any Microsoft device/OS, but they don't provide the tools to convert Android apps anymore (at least for now)An error occurred while saving the comment @Aaron developing an app takes a lot of time, especially when you're alone and doing this on your free time.
This app won't be developed for other platform.
I might build a Windows Universal app once Microsoft fixes the framework tools/limitations.
But because the app doesn't have a cross device syncing feature the universal app might not be very useful for now.
The only thing that might be developed later is a webapp, so the app can be used from any device, but this won't happen any time soon...
You can use the 'Duration' menu in the playlist screen to get this information
