Just to be clear, it's not just about limiting the storage. It's really about a feature (or set of features) to support the following listening habits:

    - I want to keep my mobile data usage down, so I auto-download over wi-fi, and I don't download on demand when I'm away from wi-fi. This means that I only listen to what has already been downloaded.

    - I auto-delete podcasts that have been listened to, but I generally don't have enough time to listen to all the podcasts I download. This means that the backlog of unlistened podcasts grows over time, which also consumes more storage. So there should be some limit on how much can be used by downloaded podcasts (nice if it's user configurable, but the the 100MB hardcoded limit probably works for most people)
    - But I occasionally get a lot of free time, and can start listening through the backlog of older podcasts. I want to be able to listen to as much as I have time for, without being limited by an arbitrary max number of podcasts that I had to decide on earlier. It's not obvious what to set it to, because it's unclear what the relationship between the number of podcasts and their size is going to be. I don't want to have to think about it. It's easier & more natural just to say "Use up to 1GB/leave at least 1GB free".

    - However, if you do hit download limits (whether it's on number of episodes, or amount of storage used), I'm least interested in the oldest podcasts, so I would prefer that the oldest podcasts get automatically deleted to make room for the newest downloads.

    Thanks for listening
