Just a heads up regarding the latest version of the app. It doesn’t provide cross device syncing yet, but it allows you to sign in to your Google Drive account and have all your data automatically backed up to make sure they are safe at all time. It also makes restoring the data on a new device really easy.
You can go into Settings/Backup to enable this and sign-in

OK, that's still a lot better than losing everything. Some podcasts have limited availability so may not be available for later download. Fortunately, most podcasts don't work that way. I look forward to testing it.

Yet again my Nexus 5 has broken so I've lost all my subscriptions and downloaded Podcast. So when I have another mobile I'm very keen to test this. I would like online storage of subscriptions, play state and ideally downloaded episodes.

As my phone has recently broken (won't charge or turn on), this feature looks a lot more important. I would also suggest gpodder.net. This would allow cross platform synchronisation.

Does google allow any storage for apps that could be used? If so, would be good as everyone will have that.

I'm doing some testing to check if I can implement this audio efect. However in order to test this I would need some sample files whith different audio levels between them or even within. Can you please send me an email with either link to some episodes (Settings/Feedback/Send email)?
Thanks

I've been running all my podcasts with the "Volume boost" enabled. It does increase the volume making it easier to hear above road noise. However, I would like to understand what it does, so I can tell whether it is always going to have the desired effect.

Olaf's idea of "normalisation at download time" sounds excellent. I listen to podcasts in the car via cable in the car audio. I put the phone volume to max and then adjust the volume on the car. Even at max car volume some podcasts are too quiet. I think normalising, i.e. setting the podcast max to actual max across the podcast, would improve this.

This should be combined with normalisation as suggested in http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/forums/211997-general/suggestions/4209961-add-an-option-to-normalize-the-audio-volume
So the normalisation at download would bring the whole podcast to maximum volume. The dynamic compression would make the quieter bits lounder. I think some people would need control of this per podcasts, but I'd be happy for it to be on/off all the time.OV51KGRV supported this idea ·
I would like it linked to the playlist, so I know how many episodes are ready to play. This probably should be an option for those who prefer the existing behaviour.
