Any idea if this is being worked on? It would be so helpful given we work from home now

If financing is an issue, I would consider this a payable feature, beyond the removal of ads.
I've subscribed to a lot of podcasts and as I'm in Australia, I cannot get their own apps (and I prefer them all in the one place) Podcast Addict has been the best by far in terms of usability. Though particularly as we're all working from home, I currently cannot listen to my paid for podcasts on my computer with it's sweet sound system, I can only go through my nasty phone.
Which, as I'm working with sound as my job, having to jump between devices to pause audio is an mild inconvenience that over a day does build up to google forums for a fix, deciding it's too faffy, voting for this feature to be added, then going back to spotify with it's embedded addage.:(
Web or desktop would be delightful, just something that syncs progress and works on PC

Possibly a progressive web app. If that could be done, then the app could run on any OS.
For sharing between devices and computers, we could use a file on a cloud drive. The file could be incrementally updated, in the same manner as Google Office and MS 365. -

Yes an Browser or Standalone Software (OS = Win, Mac, Linux) Version would be Nice. Of Course it should be able to be in Sync with the Mobile Phone Version.

Yall are saying it "needs subscription" or "money to cover server costs", but honestly what's wrong with hosting a local server on the Android device itself, so that you can access a web interface through http://<android-ip-here>:1234/web? Much easier. The web interface could even be a simple JSON endpoint, and third party devs can make the apps/websites.

A web app would be nice instead a desktop app.

This sounds like a nice idea but it is going to have to be a subscription service in order to work....

you can apply gpodder.net syncing, that way you won't have to make a complete new application for PC, and still be able to cover all the major OS for PC (Linux, MacOS, Windows).

Would be awesome but I guess it's a lot of maintenance and cost to keep up the servers for that.

I'm just adding my support here for a web player. This would also then be one step closer to a sub-feature of creating subscribable feeds of each podcast addict's playback history, or maybe even feeds for each user's playlists.

It would be wonderful. I dont have to get my podcast files manually from my phone to my pc anymore. :)

hello, just an opinion
adding to PCA a streaming server which can be accessed from a native app (exe. for windows), java or from navigator like an web interface, all that to be need to be in the same (W)LAN.
This can be used to backup whole the PCA addict folder (with the downloaded file) also.
A native app or one from java, can eventually manage a local torrent folder which can be "asynchronously synchronized" = delayed synchrony whit the mobile app, like the google drive service. this add the option to have a streaming-like service from WAN, periodically synchronized when the mobile app and the desktop app are in the same (W)LAN. i don't think it possible with a web based app. -
