allow user to open via Amazon Echo; "Alexa, please open Podcast Addict"
Amazon Echo is becoming very popular. They allow some major players like pandora, etc. If you work with Amazon your amazing app will become even more popular.
Unfortunately for now this can only work from services hosting all the content. Because podcasts are hosted on their own services/servers, this cannot be done. Hopfully this will change in the future…

I understand what Xavier is saying.
Podcasts are hosted on various servers, some websites list and access those servers via an address to play podcasts and therefore operate as a 'portal'. PodcastAddict would have to operate as such a site... Stitcher, iTunes, GooglePlay Music, iHeartRadio, Spotify, and some others operate as such 'portals' - although there are podcasts that aren't accessible (probably haven't been added/entered) on some of those portals.
Unfortunately, most of these portals don't support OPML (podcast list files) import or upload. So you'd have to add the podcasts you want manually.
Just some FYI's.*pod on!*

Stitcher is one of the few podcast service which hosts a copy of the podcasts files. Therefore they can stream the content to Alexa. NPR can also do this for their content for example -

I guess I don't understand your response since I see other podcast services on my Alexa app, such as stitcher. Would I be better off just using stitcher as my primary podcast app for my Alexa device?

This is an essential missing feature for me. Alexa integration like spotify is hugely convenient and I am even willing to pay extra for this feature

You can listen to any podcast you'd like using the Amazon Echo by Bluetooth. I haven't been successful at directing Alexa to play any specific Podcast Addict file by speaking to her. It's a matter of opening PA while connected via Bluetooth and using your phones app as normal. The Echo will play the output if that helps.

Would also love this feature, even if only as a part of the paid for app.

This would be an excellent addition and an extremely useful feature. There's a real lack of podcast player on Alexa that can sync up with mobile
