Multiple playlists
I would like to be able to create multiple regular playlists, where I select which episodes are added to each playlist and not add all episodes of a podcast like in the "custom" category. Also, it should be possible to remove the "video" playlist as I don't have a need for this, and I assume most people who listen to podcasts (while driving etc) also don't.
However, most importantly, I would like to be able to create multiple playlists (like one for listen to now, listen to when I have time, etc) where I am individually adding episodes, not complete podcasts, to the list.

EDIT: a 1st beta will be available by the end of the day.
FYI the Custom playlists will soon be improved.
Filters will be available so the selected category can only show episodes based on their download status, played status, stared status, publication date, …
I get it that some of you want multiple playlists were episodes can be manually added, but there’s no plan to implement this for now.
However, according to the feedback I got by email, it looks like those filters will solve limitations of the current solution for most users.
Feel free to send me some feedback by email if you have ideas for other filters that can be implemented (Settings/Feedback/Email)
Thanks

I really like the pre-sets in the playlist manager. I bounce between Custom & regular...I use both.

I can just join other comments.
Having a single playlist requires me to put all episodes I want to listen to into a huge list and try to manage groups within it.
As my focus/priority/situation changes, I want to listen to a different group. Managing these groups however becomes really complex beyond a certain number.

the current version only let's you play a category of podcasts (science, news, etc.). i like that feature, but it doesn't work if i want to play all the podcasts about a very specific topic (e.g. dolphins, Vladimir Putin, antibiotic resistance) from a collection of podcasts that might have one or two relevant episodes each.

This is a very interesting function of having, and thinking it would be something basic that could have already been implemented.

For me personaly thé custom playlist feature isn't exactly useful. Thé multiple playlists would je a great feature. One for Running, one for mediation, ....
Haven't you considered to implement it by now?

This is the one feature I feel is missing in the otherwise almost perfect app! Would be great to be able to create custom playlists, e.g. "Finance" or "Listen Later" and to be able to add / remove episodes of various podcasts.

Please add this! I have some podcasts I listen to at night while going to bed, some for driving, etc.

One "playlist mode" I would enjoy is to switch to the next episode of the same podcast without building a dedicated playlist.
Easy to do it by myself with the multiple playlists however. -

Looking forward to trying the filters feature, thanks Xavier.

I, too, would appreciate multiple playlists. I would use them so that I don't have to keep every podcast I want to listen to downloaded to my device at once. I would like the ability to batch-download entire playlists when I feel like listening to them, as well as the ability to free up space on my device when I am not immediately interested in listening to something, but want to keep track of it, similar to grouping bookmarks in a browser.

Please please please...add ability to create multiple custom playlists! I came to this app, paid for it..then so disappointed to see only one playlist?
I use this app for learning new languages. I need to create multple custom playlists containing small number of episodes. I need to retain these custom playlists so that I can go back and repeat these playlists multiple times to learn by repetition.
Would greatly appreciate if you would give high priority to adding this feature.
I love this app otherwise, but lack of this feature will make me look elsewhere. -

Voted 3 votes for this....Would like to have two playlist personally, one for music and one for my audio speaking feeds and then be able to sort each independently.

Have voted for this as I would like to be able to make my own playlists, but frankly i'd like to maintain the video playlist as well and wish this had not been inserted. But I have no objection to making it optional so people could opt out of it.

OMG yes, +1000 this ! I've switched to PA after years and years of BeyondPod, and the only feature i'm dearly missing is smart playlist, where you can define several rules for several moods. For instance, "listen to the latest of X then Y and Z" for news in the morning, or "listen to all new eps of A then all of B" for more serialized podcasts. It was absolutely brilliant and i've never understood any of the priorities (manual or auto) or categories in PA so each time i need to reorder myself. It's been bugging me for months #FirstWorldProblems
Would even consider tipping the author to get this prioritized, i really don't know what I would ask more from P.A, this is by far the most used app on my phone. -

Glad to see I'm not the only one missing the ability to create one's own playlists, such as "language", "comedy", "news" for instance.

Yes ! I want to be able to switch beetween my own playlists depending on my mood/activity. I never understood why this very basic feature was missing. It would be a great improvement for the already best podcast app.

Agree! This would be handy if you want to sort individual episodes in separate categories or add custom tags to each episode.

I am honestly shocked that this app doesn't have this very basic feature and I don't mean to sound overly critical as it is awesome but I really don't understand it, is it really such a low priority for people ?
