add an option to normalize the audio volume
I'm doing some testing to check if I can implement this audio efect. However in order to test this I would need some sample files whith different audio levels between them or even within. Can you please send me an email with either link to some episodes (Settings/Feedback/Send email)?
Thanks

Usually when i listen to audio in my car via bluetooth on my nexus 4 the stereo only needs to be at 20 and its very loud. With podcast addict i need to change the stereo to 32(the highest). I dont know if this will be fixed by this but ill vote here.

Olaf's idea of "normalisation at download time" sounds excellent. I listen to podcasts in the car via cable in the car audio. I put the phone volume to max and then adjust the volume on the car. Even at max car volume some podcasts are too quiet. I think normalising, i.e. setting the podcast max to actual max across the podcast, would improve this.

What you want is dynamic range compression, not normalisation. You could also do normalisation *at download time* (you need to scan the file and to set a preamp factor), even if most podcasts are already normalised.

FYI there will be an equalizer in the next version... but without normalization implementation :(

I think what you really want here is not normalization, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_compression .
My bet is that almost every podcast (save technically very bad ones) is already normalized, so normalization doesn't help at all. However, dynamic range compression leaves loud passages as they are, but amplifies low volume passages - perfect for listening in a loud environment! That would make Podcast addict stand out from all other podcast apps!
So I'm giving this my votes, but since this is technically IMHO the wrong feature, I've also created http://podcastaddict.uservoice.com/forums/211997-general/suggestions/5947590-use-dynamic-compression-to-support-listening-in-lo for dynamic compression specifically.

I don't know what normalize is but louder would be great, in the car its so hard to ear through the headphone jack and bluetooth doesn't seem to work for podcasts.

I'm more interested on the ability to boost the volume, most of the time I'm hearing podcasts on the bus or on the street where it's really loud. At the time I'm unable to listen to podcasts out of home because my headphones are not loud enough, on other apps I use features like volume boosting (Smart Audiobook Player has one) and it works alright.

My similar suggestion was rejected and rolled into this one. Mine had 51 votes before it was declined! Please vote for this suggestion, so it will be approved.

I'd recommend some dynamic normalization. Like it checks for last 10 seconds of non silent audio and normalizes based on that. maybe there are some other techniques. I have most of the problems with volume in the car. Every podcast I need to adjust it.

It's a good feature, I listen my podcast playlist on bike and when sound volume change, I lost attention to the traffic. And traffic in Paris is very horrible...
Thanks for your app.

iTunes has this feature, and I'll be honest, it doesn't really work, actually makes some podcasts way to quiet to hear, so I'm not sure this is a slam dunk to implement.

Oui, je suis pour une normalisation du son. J'en ai marre de sursauter au changement de podcast

Some podcasts are extremely quiet and it'd be nice if the volume was normalized so the next podcast isn't screaming. Considering there is support for speed increase without destroying the tone the developer seems to appreciate this sort of thing so surprised is not already in there
