to integrate an option to quit
to integrate an option to quit the application after confirmation
Adding an exit button/feature is against Android Best Practices. I will not add it. Why do you need such a feature ?

To quit the damn thing from playing all the time when starting my car. Annoying as hell!

Because the app keeps running in the background after you back out of the app, and you have to force stop the app to get it to stop...

I dont want the app running in the background using up battery and memory when I'm not using the app. My battery doesnt last nearly as long that way. I shouldn't have to reboot the phone to stop the app!

Thank you baby Jesus for the long press. The notification player has no close so it stays in notifications whilst paused.

@Anonymous
You can stop the player by pressing on its 'X' button. You can also long press on the pay/pause button in the app to do so.

My app will continue to notify me on my lock screen even when I have closed all apps and windows. An option to quit quit shut down the program without having to force stop. Currently notification settings are all turned off but the app still runs and notifies me. I want to quit the program and still pick up where I left.

@Anonymous
The app doesn't do anything when you're not listening to a podcast or downloading an episode.
Therefore it cannot use any CPU/Battery.
If you're running a Samsung device with an old ROM you might be facing the Google Play Services battery drain bug. In that case please follow the FAQs instruction for a workaround -

In my experience my battery empties much faster if i do not quit properly (parameters > applications > addict `force closing)

i'm old school too. i prefer a stop, not a pause, and i prefer an exit or quit option in settings.

This isn't an app issue. This is an issue in your device setting. It's set to send a remote control when connected to a receiver. You have to disable this behavior otherwise the last player app that was used will be triggered. You can disable podcast addict external control listening but lock screen widget as well as remote controls won't work anymore. It will just hide the android setting issue. Lots of manufacturer enable this behavior by default: Motorola, Sony...

It is super frustrating not having an option to quit podcast addict. Whenever I switch the input in my work truck to my phone it starts playing the end of whichever podcast I was listening to and then I need to stop it before I can listen to music.
-
I'm not sure to understand what the issue is when you press pause but FYI you can stop the player. Just press the X button in the expanded notification or long press the play/pause button.

Along these lines I have an issue when connected to bluetooth (or possibly headphones) that I just can't get it to stop. If I pause it and switch apps it starts playing again, etc. I have a similar issue with pandora but it has a "quit" option. It doesn't close the app, it just quits the music play.

What do you mean by ongoing events ?
Are you talking about tha background services ?
Why do you want to stop them ? They're necessary to app in order to run automatic podcast aupdate, download, to refresh the widgets, to listen to external controls...
But those services are not using any CPU or battery and if the device needs to free some resources Android will kill them like it can do with any app/service. -

Because unlike most apps, podcastaddict creates an "ongoing" event that cannot be cleared without "force stopping" the application (or at least there is no obvious method).
If there is a way to remove that when i'm not listening to podcasts, then that option needs to be more obvious and available.
