Allow merging of audio and video playlists
I would like the option to see audio and video podcasts on the same playlist rather than two separate lists. Once I am using one, it tends to get more attention until I remember to switch to the other.

This is an old request, that's probably going to be ignored, but I'd still like to add to the chorus that not being able to automatically add audio and video to the same playlist is a deal breaker for using this app. I have 56 podcasts, and only 1 of them is video, crucially it's a video of music so I almost never actually watch it. It's ridiculous, no idiotic, the way this app generates "smart" playlists.

@Xavier Guillemane - This is something that Pocket Casts can already do and they have been doing it longer than a year now. One customizable playlist with both audio and video podcasts played as audio automatically if you are not actively interacting with the app (having the app open with the screen unlocked) so i know that this is possible. I really like your app because it has so many features but the separated playlists will be a deal breaker for me as well.

The Custom playlist shows the content of the selected category, so depending on the podcast you're listening to and on the current category, then yes an episode can be displayed in the Audio and Custom tabs of the playlist screen, but the purpose of those tabs isn't the same.
If you want to manage a single playlist, then you just have to use the audio tab -

A lot of my posdcasts end up in the custom list, so these should also be possible to add to the same playlist. Just one playlist would be best.

Yeah, I don't even download videos because you can't merge them. It would be too much for my brain to decide in any given moment between audio or video. Besides I don't watch any way. I'd just listen, so I miss out on the content of the videos
I suppose the easiest way to do it would be 1st of all not automatically placing episodes into one list or the other depending on type but which playlist you choose, so of course you'd need the option of multiple playlists and I think I saw another suggestion on more than one playlist. I myself would just have one and would add all episodes into my one playlist, but with an option for more playlists that would be cool so you could create your own 'channels' or whatever. Actually, come to think of it I would use that.
And then to be able to play off multiple lists alternating between them in order or shuffling if you like

Please add this feature !
Because I have to use the 1x1 widget to play video podcast with screen off, if not using it, the sound stop.
Moreover, my playlist is automatically played and I always forgot (and also don't want) to switch playlist.
This if for a "video" podcast but I do not watch it (only pictures illustrating the audio) -

@Xavier Guillemane what if you just play the audio part of the video? could you merge them then?
-
@kdo sorry but you cannot merge audio and video content into the same playlist

I am a longtime user of BeyondPod and listen daily while commuting on my bike. I am considering switching, however, due to a bug with BP related to "Note to self". Unfortunately, not being able to merge video podcasts (played as audio only) into the audio playlist would be a deal breaker.

Xavier, do you consider adding this feature?

This, please! I am usually unable to touch my phone as my hands are covered in things at work and I would really like to be able to listen to my video podcasts as simply another podcast mixed into all my audio ones.

OP put my thoughts perfectly -- when I use audio playlist, I tend to forget about video playlist and vice-versa. Thank you for considering this option!

Agreed. I have one audio podcast which uses mp4 files and then shows up in the "video" playlist, although it's just audio. Having an option to merge the playlists would be most helpful.

I have a mix of audio and video podcast, have video set to pay in background so can listen to video podcast just as the audio podcast. Would love a combined list to listen uninterrupted from oldest to newest instead of listen to all audio and then switch to video and continue listening, combined world be great!

I don't understand the last comment. How would this feature request help you playing podcasts right away ? You can already do that by enabling Automatic playlist in Settings/Playlist

I would love this as well. I like to play my podcasts right away as soon as the feed is updated.

Almost a year later, I'd still like to bring this up. I'd like to see audio and video in 1 playlist

I listen to podcasts in the car while driving. I subscribe to one video podcast that is not available in audio only format. When that podcast finishes I either need to navigate menu options at highway speed or wait until I arrive at work in order to activate the audio playlist and start listening to the next podcast in the list.
