Podcast Addict v3.0 new beta has just been published with a new podcast search engine and search result UI.
It should be live in one hour or so.

Feel free to try the beta.
You will see that the dark theme remains and that the modifications are light and improve the overall design and readability of some screens.
I will add a light theme in a future version but I will always keep the dark one ;)

Please, DO NOT change the design of this nice software. I have bought it also for dark color scheme.

Once you joined the community you need to press on the link which gives you access to the beta, you you will have the update through the Play store. Make sure to use the same google account for the community and the Play store

I joined community on Google+, but the version for testing is not available to me. What other criteria for access?

@Ivan I'm not aware of any lag even though I'm using the app daily on a low end device.
There's no work on the UI thread except for the display itself.
Please send me an email in case of an issue so I can help you (Settings/Feedback)

I mean it sounds so if you will change just layout cause app pretty often lags a lot, like there is a lot of missed frames and work in main thread.. I hope underhood logic will be improved as well not just cosmetics directly visible on screenshots.. Thanks

I don't think I will add any transition or custom effect in the v3.0.
I will just improve a couple of screen layouts, and change some icons/colors.
It will look better than the current version, but it's just a first step that I have to take now in order to access some of the new features Android 5 API.

Feel free to give some feedback once the beta is available.

Great news !
I'm not expecting those crazy activity transitions, but just a coloured statusbar, the new ToolBar and a few ripple effets are easy to implement, and makes a big difference.

I don't intend to change the whole app design. I will just do small layout improvements.
The navigation will remain the same.
In order to integrate new features I have to compile with the latest Android API which breaks the current app design (color changes, ...)... therefore the material design 'update' ;)

I'd love a material design layout. I understand this is a lot of work. Could you, at least, given the option of having notifications with the material design style? All my other apps have a white background on the notification bar but this one. Thanks

ugg, no... please . function first. i want it to work, i don't want a 'google experience' using the app. why does everyone want an 'experience' these days? go outside if you want an experience, don't get it from your phone. down vote. do your thing, not google's.

trying to make the switch from pocket casts to this, but the UI really needs an overhaul. Hoping it's not far off.

I couldn't agree more with James: this is a functional app, not a fashion/trendy/all-looks-and-no-substance one.
I'm tired of material design updates (and all new and "improved" look/interface updates, in general) that ruin perfectly good apps.

I love this App, but I agree a more intuitive interface would be great. Having recently downloaded and used the Plex app, this App could learn something from that UI. I would be happy to pay for a "Skin" that improves this as there seem to be people who like the existing one. Also thanks for responding below/above Xavier
