I'm having the same issue as dave. Tired reinstalling the app, restarted my phone etc. No luck yet. It normally won't play any audio. On bluetooth it works fine. Brand New Huawei Phone running Android oreo

Regarding the issue, everything related to Android Auto is handle by the Google Play Services, the Android auto app and the car receiver.
The app just provides a list of episodes, and that's almost it.
Please try rebooting your phone. Maybe there's a temporary glicth causing this. -

I just started using Android Auto with my Pioneer AVH-4200NEX, and while I can access Podcast Addict under the audio menu and hit the play button, I can't hear anything. When playing, I do notice that the minutes/seconds are advancing as if something is playing, but the audio is not being broadcasted through the receiver.
To rule out the fact that my audio receiver is not the issue, I opened up Amazon Music through Android Auto and it plays audio with no problem.
Funny little quirk: after playing music through Amazon Music, I then load Podcast Addict, press play, and then I am able to hear the podcast audio; however, the audio doesn't last and eventually stops/pauses spontaneously.

It doesn't work well on Android Auto. Like Dave Yates, I can see the icon under "Apps on Android" when I tap on the screen it reports "PodcastAddict" does not appear to be responding". It then starts playing whatever I was last listening to on my phone, but I can't control it.

Although the addict software is shown under "apps on andriod" on my android Auto (and is shown as already installed) I dont seem to be able to access it under the headphone icon?

@Woland
Nothing has changed in the Android Auto API. Any app supporting Android Auto should work fine on the new app running on a phone

Does the current version of Podcast Addict support the "new" Android Auto (version which does not require the car to have a special entertainment system).

I hope this is coming soon. Having to drop out of Android Auto to listen to podcasts is lame. It still works but you lose the control and integration with other services (map, phone, text, etc.) that AA provides. Please tell us this is in the works!

This is probably the only thing stopping me from buying an android auto head unit. The 8100NEX is awesome looking, but if I can't listen to podcasts...it will be a big expensive normal headunit with GPS

I think there was an update to the app a few months ago that mentioned changing the internal coding to allow easier support for systems like Android Auto...I'm hoping too. Definitely the best podcast app I've seen, now's the chance to be one of the only podcast apps to support Android Auto!

In the car is 100% the future for listening to podcasts. This is the best app for it I've found and I hope Android Auto support is in the works!
