Chiming in to say that this is the one feature I'm desperately missing in this app! I'm coming from Castbox, and I like PA way better in basically every respect except for this very important (to me) one.
In Castbox, when you subscribe to a podcast, every time a new episode is added to the feed, it shows up with a badge on the episode in the feed, and it adds a badge on the podcast artwork in the list/grid of your podcast subscriptions. There's menu options to clear those badges, both individually (episode by episode) and in batches (clear all of a podcast's badges, clear all the badges from all the podcasts in a specific category), WITHOUT having to mark the episodes as played.
I used this feature heavily to keep track of my podcasts and I'm really missing it in PA, especially since every single podcast I subscribed to via OPML import now has the orange "unplayed" triangle on it with numbers for all of the episodes currently in the feed. It's making it pretty hard to actually find new-to-me episodes in my podcasts.
My dream is to be able to see when a podcast is updated, but then clear that updated status and get rid of the "unplayed" orange triangle on the podcast art without having to mark ALL the episodes as played, in case I want to download and play the new episode at another time, ignore the newest episode without marking everything in the feed as played when it's not, or just be able to more accurately keep track of which episodes I've actually listened to. This suggestion sounds pretty close to what I'm looking for, so I'm wholeheartedly cosigning it!
