Just a heads up regarding the latest version of the app. It doesn’t provide cross device syncing yet, but it allows you to sign in to your Google Drive account and have all your data automatically backed up to make sure they are safe at all time. It also makes restoring the data on a new device really easy.
You can go into Settings/Backup to enable this and sign-in
    Thanks

    Xavier,
You wouldn't necessarily need to use your own server infrastructure for sync. You could simply integrate with other sync providers, preferably SyncThing (since it is free and open source with no storage limits), or additionally Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.

Ideally, this would allow for syncing not just state information (episode lists, read status, settings, etc.) but also content (episode descriptions and media files). You could also allow for archiving settings to be different per-device, so that, for example, one device could archive all podcast episodes but another device could delete all media files once they've been read.
