I’m not sure to understand what you mean by the partially played episode remains in the un-played state and will return again when playing through the list.
If you mark an episode as played you won’t see it anymore if played episodes are hidden.
However this doesn’t remove the episode from the playlist. There’s a single ‘played’ status, so the flag behave the same way when added manually or automatically by the app. However when an episode has been fully listened to the app can do other action based on your settings such as deleting the file and removing the episode from the playlist

Just a heads up regarding the latest version of the app. It doesn’t provide cross device syncing yet, but it allows you to sign in to your Google Drive account and have all your data automatically backed up to make sure they are safe at all time. It also makes restoring the data on a new device really easy.
You can go into Settings/Backup to enable this and sign-in

This is the ONLY thing missing from the best podcast app for Android. And all the other apps have it.Sometimes, I decide I don't want to hear the rest of a podcast in my playlist. I want to mark it a FULLY played and remove it from the playlist at the same time, with one tap, either in the playlist mode or in the player. A manual 'Mark as Played' action should behave exactly as if the podcast had played through to the end normally.
Thanks for an AWESOME app!
