2. Smart pause/play feature: Turn screen facing down -> pause

   A smart pause feature:
   It would be great if playing a podcast would automatically pause when I lay my smartphone down with the screen facing down. Simply turning the device over should then resume playing.

3. Downloading episodes pausing when you run out of space

   If the download que gets stopped for lack of space, can it automatically pause downloads instead of marking everything as an error?

   I know I'm not a normal user, but I have an ordered que of literally 1500+ episodes right now, and I typically download 25 at a time to prevent having to manually reque the entire list, but I often get distracted, my phone doesn't send a notification until it is already too late with a failed to download x message, I loudly swear, and proceed to pause it, scroll all the way to the episode I need to start requeing at, and slowly re-add everything. This is a nightmare I really want to end.

5. When PAUSEd, add option to PLAY when NEXT TRACK button is pressed

   After connecting to car bluetooth, I would like Podcast Addict to reconnect, pause, and wait for me to press the NEXT TRACK button before beginning to PLAY.
   Equivalently, an option such that any time the player is PAUSED, the NEXT TRACK button causes it to PLAY would also work.
   For whatever reason, my car's PLAY button does not cause the app to play so this provides a convenient and intuitive workaround.

   The reason I was looking for one, was because I wanted to write which podcasts I donated to (it's nice to keep track of it in the app which I use to listen to them 😁)

7. Determine "short notification" based on the length of the interruption

   Sometimes apps take audio focus for a long time but still count it as temporary audio focus, such as a 1-hour WhatsApp call. Since I have the pause / resume setting for short notifications, this makes PA resume after the call, which I don't want.

   I suggest an option to interpret audio focus loss based on the actual length of the pause, as opposed to what the interrupting app classified it as. For example:
   * For interruptions less than 10 seconds, treat it as a short notification for all purposes
   * For interruptions from 10 seconds to 5 minutes, resume but apply an incremental rewind (i.e. treat it as short from the player perspective but not the rewind perspective)
   * For interruptions longer than 5 minutes, don't resume (treat it as a permanent focus loss)

8. Podcast addict can play when do not disturb is turned on

   Currently when do not disturb is turned on podcast addict is not able to play. Android allows exceptions for apps that you manually choose. It will be helpful if podcast addict could play when do not disturb is turned on.

9. Make "Manual" playlist sort a checkbox instead of a dropdown option

   Currently:

   In the playlist's "Order by ..." dialog, there's a checkbox for "Alternate podcasts" and then one or more dropdown menus to sort by various methods.

   The Part That Feels Like Awkward UI:

   All of the "Sort by" dropdown options are automatic sort methods, except one, the "Manual (Drag&Drop)" menu option. If you think about it, Manual (Drag&Drop) is really an alternative to automatic sorting. It's turning automatic sorting on or off. In fact if you select it, it does disable the subsequent dropdown menus. So it could make more UI sense to make it a checkbox at the top that enables or disables all 3 dropdowns.

   The Request:

   Move "Manual (Drag&Drop)" out of the dropdown; instead make it a checkbox.

   -> Critically, it should disable all 3 dropdown menus, and the dropdown menu state should be remembered so that users can toggle between manual mode and their preferred automatic mode.

   The Justification:

   Personally, 90% of the time I stay on an automatic sort: alternating podcasts sorted by podcast priority (high->low), then short publication date (Old->New), then duration (Min->Max). And then about 10% of the time I'm excited by a new podcast and want to drag it to the top of my list, so I switch to Manual mode and do that. And then when I want to switch back, it's 12 clicks and 3 scrolls to set it back to my preferred automatic sort. It's a UI pain point.

   I admit that this is a relatively trivial pain point, but I expect it's also a relatively trivial code change!

    Many podcasters struggle to monetize their content and offering boosts over the lightning network directly from the app seems to be the best solution. It also avoids the main podcast gatekeepers from taking a cut. Fountain Podcast app implements this

11. Make filtered episodes Hidden instead

    Might we have the option to have filtered episodes visible but greyed out, so that if we, for some reason, need something we normally choose to filter out, we can easily retrieve it without deleting filters and resetting feeds?

    This would make the filtered episodes normally hidden, but easy to retrieve, perhaps with options to have hidden eps normally downloaded, or downloadable on demand.

12. Delete at sync

    It would be nice if there was an option to allow podcast deletions to only occur at the "Automatic refresh" scheduled time.

    I want to enable both "delete when marked as played manually" and "delete once fully listened to", but I don't like that they happen immediately upon those events.

    An episode may accidentally get marked completed, or I may want to go back and listen to or reference something again after finishing.

    Having that grace period between those setting events and the next sync prevents the need to stream or download it again.

    I could see many people wanting the currently used immediate way of operating, so perhaps there could be a toggle between "Immediate" and "At next sync/refresh".

    It would be nice if there was an option to allow podcast deletions to only occur at the "Automatic refresh" scheduled time.

13. Easier access to priority setting

    I have a feature idea that would be useful for me. At the moment, on the player, there are 2 icons, thumbs up 👍 and thumbs down 👎, to rate the episode.

    Iy would be nice to have a setting that, when enabled, if I click the thumbs up, it will also increase the podcast priority by 1 (or an arbitrary amount) . If I click the thumbs down, it will also decrease the podcast priority by 1.

    Or, maybe to have the priority setting more easily accessible from the player. Maybe a setting to make the priority visible and easily editable in the player, perhaps with 2 buttons, + and -.

    This would be a nice to have feature for your consideration, it is not a must have.

14. Allow user to identify podcasts with injected ads

    I personally avoid podcasts with automatic ads injected in. It's very jarring to be listening to my favourite podcast and then get an ad from mcdonalds. I don't mind at all when the podcast itself has sponsors but every time I hear a inserted ad, I unsubscribe from the podcast. It would be a lot easier if we could filter for these when searching for a new podcast, and it would be nice if there was an indicator in the podcast info. I believe it is specific podcast networks that do this so it should be relatively easy to identify which ones have it.

15. Have a backup Skip Outro setting

    I really appreciate the Skip Outro only if fast-forward pressed option fast was added in 2020.17. But, there are occasions when I can't fast-forward and a podcast has a long but variable outro length.

    For example, I want to have it always skip the last 90 seconds, but should also skip to the next episode if I fast-forward any time in the last 3 minutes.

17. Automatically mark episodes as played if they contain a specific phrase

    There is a podcast that I listen to which has two alternating formats of episodes, but I'm only interested in listening to episodes of one of the formats.

    I have podcast addict set up to automatically download and queue up episodes when they are released. It would be great to have a feature where I could mark all episodes containing 'Specific phrase' as played so that they do not download, as I have no interest in listening to them.

18. Filter Explicit content under some Conditions

    The app should hide/not play explicit content under certain circumstances.

    Use Case:
    User is subscribed to content that is marked Explicit/unsuitable for children. When user connects to their home Bluetooth or (especially) Car Audio, all explicit media sources should be hidden.

    Filter Conditions:
    1. Device based (Android Auto, Bluetooth device, etc)
    2. WiFi based (SSID based)
    3. A global Explicit content ON/OFF button somewhere in the UI

    UI Design:
    Maybe a settings menu entry just like the WiFi filter and a master enable/disable with devices that need to be whitelisted for explicit content.

19. Allow custom mobile network settings for each podcast

    Some podcasts I only want to download via wifi, some I want to download on mobile. Please enable this feature, right now I can only change mobile download settings globally. Thank you!

20. Bring up the podcast description when clicking on an icon in the Statistics screen

    The statistics screen would be a great tool for pruning podcasts if only you brought up the podcast description when clicking on its icon in the list. That would allow me to unsubscribe to my least listened to podcasts easily. Even better would be a long press selection (as in the playlist) and bulk action to unsubscribe.

    Next version of the app will allow you to press on the podcast artwork to open its description. From there you will be able to swipe left/right to access the previous/next podcast in the list
